navy says it is expected to fly again, I would wager a nickle every aircraft electrician working on p8's is cussing up a blue streak about future problems, or have things changed ?

Back in 1987, a 3-week-old Ninja 750 arrived at my "Kawasaki Dealer" shop in a P/U truck, no visual body damage
He said bike fell into ocean at a restaurant at the beach in San Juan, PR. o_O, customer would be along shortly, etc. Long story short (not really ), bike sat in 20ft of salt water for 1hr, I wrote him a total loss invoice, I explained there was no way of preventing corrosion on wiring and electrical components, $$$$, etc. Insurance paid, etc. I bought it for $500 from insurance and salvaged lots of parts, none electrical.

ITOH, kinda hard to comment on this P-8 faith, without venturing into unmentionable topics :censored: , but let me just say that Military Intelligence and Deep Pockets play a big part :whistle: I mean they have over 90/P-8's in service and there's lots of B737-800 sitting in the desert, etc., that would be far cheaper to mod for the P-8's role. So ...

When I was in the USAF, we had a C-130 catch fire. The fire department sprayed the foam over it everywhere. Probably 40-50% of the left side was destroyed and the rest of the plane obviously had the foam on it. The plane sat for a couple weeks before anyone realized they should've immediately sprayed the plane down with water. That foam is caustic or corrosive.

The USAF didn't write the plane off. They washed it down, then put it in a hangar and structural repair mechanics worked on it for over a year cleaning the little places in the frame where the foam had damaged it.

I suspect they'll do much the same.
