I am a former owner of a 2012 400 and a 2006 650. I am planning on buying another Burgman. Right now I am leaning towards the 400. I found a 2013 near me with less that 2,000 miles on it. Or I could try to find a deal on a 3rd Gen but I am thinking that will cost at least $2000-$3000 more. Are the updates worth it? I have never even seen a new one. How is the leg room on the new ones? I had to take the buttstop of my 2012. How does that work on the new ones. I know the design is different. I have a 34” inseam so leg room is very important to me.

I cannot speak to leg room, but you will be giving up storage space, in case that matters to you.
If it helps, I had a choice of 2016 400AL6, 2200 miles, and a 2020 model, 1200 miles, same price.(In UK). Opted for the earlier scoot.
Its about the same size as the 650. New model has gone for sporty, smaller (one full face helmet) boot.[Edit] New seat is higher. You sit ON rather than IN it. But thats my opinion.
You have experience with both and you are weighing which is best for you right now. I'd love to know your thoughts on that.
There's so much to consider: your body size & physical condition, the area where you most often ride, your riding style, whether you'll be taking a passenger or groceries or luggage, whether you'll take long trips/tours …
