Hi all, my first question for the forum....I'd like to use my Helite Turtle II but not sure if/where I can attach the tether to my 400. If anyone is using one of these vests, how is the tether secured to your Burgman? Thanks!

Welcome! I totaled 2 400's in neither case did the key pull out of the ignition even though it was attached to me before I became airborne. Just a thought, While I'm thinkin, have you done the emergency seat release yet?

I wear a Hit-air first gen. airbag and ride a 2010 400.

For my tether connection I repurposed the helmet strap bracket under the seat.

Open the seat and there is a bracket bolted to the frame intended to hang your helmet strap on to secure it to the bike.

I unbolted the bracket and used that location to secure the quick release buckle section.
Close the seat and the buckle hangs out below the seat.

When using it the tether line is between your legs, if I stand there is a strong tension on the tether.
Ideally there should be a second line running to the rear to limit how far you can slide forward without triggering the airbag.

The problem with tethering to the dashboard is that you can travel beyond the dash by the same amount as from your seating position to the dash so in a smidsy crash you have already hit the car by the time the bag triggers.

Hope that all makes sense, let me know if not.

They work well.
I know the guy who built the test rig for a different manufacturers version.
There may have been some horseplay during the testing of the test rig ans numerous visitors may have bounced around the workshop floor - I couldn’t possibly say.

The tether must be tight in all planes of movement as you don’t know what direction will be if you ever need it.

Several companies produce them, check for coccyx and neck cover.
Its an extra layer, plus they can block the vents in your jacket so may be too hot in the summer/hot climates. I wear mine pretty much always for half the year but not always in summer.

Luckily the Burgman comes with plenty of air bag storage space under the seat :)
