Hi guys, I'm new here. Just bought a used 2008 Executive from an old man, nice guy. Told me after I bought it that oil had just been changed, and was Amsoil 10-40. Seems like he took very good care of it.

Been running fine, then the "Oil Level" light came on. Instinctively, I added oil hoping it would go out. Ended up adding a whole quart and no luck. Discovered it actually had too much oil and read here somewhere that could cause the light to come on. So I drained a bit until it was about 3/4 between the two lines in the sight glass. Still had the light. Took it for a ride and it did not make a difference.

So, could this be a bad sensor? Does it measure pressure or level? It actually says "Check Oil Level." Should I avoid driving it until I figure it out? Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Willy

The oil level sensor is just a float. It is mounted on the bottom of the crankcase. It's possible yours is stuck or damaged. It's also possible the wires to it are damaged.

As far as I know the indicator only comes on if the level is low.
