10 things I don't like about my Burgy 2014

Quick list ...

1 - The grumbling and vibrations @ low RPM around 60-70kph
2 - The excessive back lash in the drive train, worst than bike with manual gears and chain
3 - The under refined suspension, even with updated ikon springs & shockies
4 - The grumbling and vibrations @ low RPM around 60-70kph
5 - The excessive back lash in the drive train, worst than bike with manual gears and chain
6 - The under refined suspension, even with updated ikon springs & shockies
7 - The uncomfortable seat that cramps my legs up to the glove box door & a$$ aching within 20 minutes of riding
8 - The 50mm too short a screen
9 - The flimsy tupperware tabs that snap if you look at them
10 - The future labour to R&R CVT unit

Items 1, 2, 4, 5 - Can't be resolve in the aftermarket, even with speedohealer it doesn't work I've tryed

Items 2, 5 - I know gentle gentle on throttle in D mode but it's way to hard and uncontrollable in manual mode

Item 7 - Since fitting my $1000aus Corbin seat (Corbin isn't as good as in other models I've used them on) It's increased the vibrations due to the stiffen base plate, riding in manual mode helps, staying in 4th 60kph @ 3,500rpm but it's a pain changing up/down more so due to the location of the buttons, power mode runs to 4,500rpm with mass amount of engine braking

Item 8 - I'm still waiting on Puig screen :-(

Item 9 - Zip ties and glue/gloo :-(

Item 10 - I hope I will never need to deal with :)

It's getting so annoying now if someone releases something with auto gear changes I may be tempted eg Honda Integra 750 I did try to ride one but Honda Australia dropped them due to lack of sales before I could, they didn't even last 12mths

Good lord..... You should've bought an '04 exec :wink

This thing is a blast, 46L topbox, Glove boxes, cubby holes & oodles of under seat storage & stretch out leg room. Electric mirrors, ABS, Heated grips, awesome wind & rain protection & the lack of Maintenance on these machines is a breeze.

It's easy on the eye, very well built, fast, Turbine smooth, functional, solid & planted in 130km/hr winds & torrential but nippy enough to maneuver & split traffic in the blink of an eye.

I don't think there is one thing i don't like about my burg.

As the saying goes, "attitude is everything", and Mrchips, you are an excellent example. I have zero complaints on my 07 Executive.:wink

Although I haven't ridden a new model 650, I'm not convinced it was a very good upgrade. I've not really read or heard anyone rave about it. Most often complaint is with the poor mid-level acceleration or bogginess and associated vibration. Biggest compliment is it's easier to push around due to the new clutch. But of course the new clutch also means an end to the engine braking. On the whole, I think I'll hold off on any "upgrade".

If the 2013+ model had been the standard for 10 years, and Suzuki introduced the 'new' 650 (with the attributes of the 2003-12 model years), here are some of the comments:

  • The mid-range acceleration is nice, but the transmission is so jerky. Why does it clunk whenever I ease-up on the throttle? How can I get my passenger to stop bumping helmets with me?
  • 6 mpg LESS than the old model?? WTF??
  • I've made friends with my neighbor - since he now has to help me push my bike out of the garage.
  • The old model was almost as flickable as a 400, now I'm driving an oceanliner.
  • I appreciate the additional under-seat storage, but now everyone calls me lard-a$$
  • I want my analog dash back!
  • What's with this shiny finish? It shows every smudge, scratch and speck of dust!

It's time to trade it for a 2007 t0 2016 mighty 400.

Life will then be much more pleasant for you.

The best solution for me is to own both: 2008 and 2014 650. I'd have a pretty hard time having to choose between them right now. Awesome machines for sure!
