All right...... lookin' good. Nice to see you're using good gear.

O.K., MasterCard Advertising 'wannabe writers... how many "Priceless" lines can we come up with with an introduction like this?

#5 ·
all the dealers around here say they want list for the Executive
"it is rare", "its a hot item", "we only ordered 1"

I think was mentioned in Mobile it was 8K and the guy in Alabama we were talking about said $8050.00 and wanted a deposit so I feel pretty good about these numbers.

In Mississippi tax on a car is 3% so that is an assumption.

I like the $50 mesh jacket but they don't have it in extra fat. This seems to be the only one they have in XXXXl. Guess it is a good idea to have a liner in the trunk.

I have e-mailed them 3 times asking if the light will affect the ABS system. They have not responded.

That's a good price on the the scooter. Is the dealer charging any prep fees or freight? Sometimes they do?

Also when you take the MSF course sometimes you will get a discount on your insurance.

Hopefully your wait will be over soon.

#8 ·
10% discount is good here.
Write to the MSF of your state and ask about the discount
http://www.msf-usa.org/
In MA. It is required that they give you a 10% reduction on your compulsory insurance.
Here is what they sent back to me.

CHAPTER 175. INSURANCE

My insurance agent asked if I had anything in writing I could give them to send to the Insurance Co.

I cannot see how it ever would.

From what I've seen of the insurance rates for MA, I'd hope they'd cut you a break on your rates with the MSF. Progressive, where I get my Burgman insured, doesn't extend the MSF discount, and least not in Minnesota. But 10% off my insurance would be less than $8, so no big deal. Not even a tank of gas.

Thursday night spoke with the MSF instructor about taking so long for a class. It seems the last class he had (at local airport) someone hit a parked airplane. He has been getting a new sight approved. Now he has 2 sites available. Bad news I will be in the 2nd group. 2 to 4 more weeks.
Friday went to 3 dealers in Greater New Orleans, none have any 06. They do have my phone number.
Have several quotes for insurance the best deal is:
American Modern Insurance Group 866-267-7678
100/300/25 Bodily Injury
100/300 uninsured and under insured
Comprehensive , Collision $500.00 deductible
Tow insure nearest repair facility with $500.00 Trip interruption.
$5000.00 accessories coverage (clothes are accessories)
06 650 Burgman Executive
I have no tickets and no accidents on my cage license, and have never ridden a motor scooter or motorcycle before.
$435 annually -$24 fax over MSF completion $415.00 annually
This is the best deal I could find.
Several therads about names have made me consider Wild Fire when I get the scoot will see if the fit.

Had a Little extra time today so went to the Building that housed the government agencies for our county. Its condemned due to Katrena. Sign on the door Driver's license has moved to the coast (worse damage go figure) Listed Phone Number. Called them asking about motorcycle endorsement. Written test $1.00 gets learner permit Can only ride in the presences of a Motorcycle Endorsed Adult. The study booklet is .50c I asked them to mail a copy they said no. Offered to send check and self addressed envelope the answer was "complain to you're supervisor to get us a building so we don't have to drive everyday" I bit my tong as they have to be dealt with if I am to ever to get a license. When you take the riding test the bike has to be brought to the testing facility on a trailer.(what kind of nonsense it this? If I can ride with a learners permit why can't it be ridden there?) The Tax office (license plate, registration, title, etc) is 70miles to the north; opposite direction. They didn't answer phone for basic questions. Most every business in town is up and running but not the government with their mandatory monopoly.

Reached the tax office.
Ms. sales tax on the scooter will be 7%
$5.00 Title reg fee
$100.00 tag reg (every year slightly declining each year)
.
.
.
8050 Burgman
563.5 sales tax
5.0 title reg
100. plate
8718.5 OTD
This is the deal I am looking for. Can't even find a bike so it might be hard.

I have spoken with several dealers about the Executive model that have not orderer any. They say abs is not very well received on many motorcycles they carry. Then they say I have gotten several calls on them new items are usually in demand. Why is this bike so hard to find? I have gotten it into my head that the ABS would be a good thing especially for someone with no experience. The search goes on.

#15 ·
Generally dealers are rather clueless about maxi-scooters in general, know very little about Burgmans in particular and therefore could hardly be expected to have had sufficient market intelligence to forward order the Executive.

Next time you are at the dealer - point them to this site and the number of Executives that are literally going from crate to customer without ever scratching the showroom floor - see if that stirs up any neural pathways! :!:

The ABS notion may well be true for motorcyclists in general - but Burgman folk are not general motorcyclists by definition - they are discerning experienced folk who have left the notion of grinding off their knee sliders behind. :)

NO BOOTS? NO PANTS?
.
.
I wear short pants and a pull over shirt 90% the time. Was planning on wearing a old pair of snake proof pants. They have a zipper that runs from the hip down or the ankle up, the ankle is Velcro elastic band.
I will have a pair of 6" Boots made this spring. I have special custom made shoes for orthopedic reasons.
.
.
Went to the dealer again today. It is my opinion that this dealer has them but will not bring out the 06 until their inventory of 05 is gone. I left my name and number again today. Also told them once I had the MSF course I would drive to get one. They did not even offer to get one in for me.
.

.
MSG instructor has 2 new courses approved and claims he will have classes every weekend until his waiting list is done. Would not tell me what week my courses is. There is another place aboutr 120/one way. Am not sure I could make that drive after the hard days of the course. Could stay in hotel there am considering that option. Getting desperate with these beautiful days. I saw more motorcycles out in the country than autos today.

Received call from Conventon La. Champion Cycle.
Stacy has one for me.

My EX went from crate to me.

I got my EX for 8309 out the door. TTL wasn't in the deal. They had just sold a 650 when I got to the dealer. I talked with the buyer for awhile. The only 650 they had left was my EX in a crate. They put it together and I bought it. It never hit the showroom. The dealer said sometime next month (May) they would get another 650. He didn't know when it would arrive but was pretty sure it would be White. The dealer where I live had been telling me for 3 weeks he would have a 650 any day. The dealer I bought from is 30 miles away. I would have been more than happy with the base 650 but I really like the EX. the extra's are Ok, mostly just there. The best is the windsheild. The ABS will probably turn out to be a good thing. I did get a small discount on insurance cause of the ABS. I was at the point that any 650 I could get my hands on would the one for me.

My nephew a painter for large car dealership will paint my top box for the wholesale cost of the paint. What ever is left over will be available for the inevitable. The clear coat will be free. I am not keen on having things match but wife seem to want.
.
Was thinking about adding an alarm. No better time than 20% off retail and free install. It is not really needed for my situation but if I can find one with a headlight modulator I would go for it. The modulator is on my list of add ons we are considering. You'll know of any?
.
Oh ya the dealer know I have never ridden before and must have thought I was gonna ride it out of the dealership. They said not to worry they will ride it to the street and let me take it from there, referring to the gravel parking lot. Now I am building a complex about gravel. Have seen some things mentioned here. Bummer 1100 feet of the driveway to the barn the scoot will be kept in is gravel. Is it safe for a novice to ride on wash gravel every time he rides or should I cut through the sod field?

#25 ·
Both sod and gravel have there issues. Sod or grass in general can be as slick as ice on street tires. Gravel is not as bad but for now go slow and don't use your front brake if you can help it. Tires can easly dig in on gravel and cause abrupt changes in balance or direction. You could practice on a fat tire bicycle to get a feel for it. I occasionally ride on both and its like a double espresso as far as waking me up!

Congradulations on the new bike. Now it's school time. Gear up!

Isn't it great when a plan comes together!? :)

Congratulations - sounds to me like you'll have one extra special delux scoot - one to be very proud of.

You done did good cajun!
