I wired both my heated gloves and GPS (Zumo) directly to the battery and ran the wires up the handlebars to the left brake resevoir. There are holes in the back of the battery box so no drilling required.

 

Yeah I was going to do that but I first want to know if their are plugs already available for the factory heated grips.

 

Not sure, but the wiring diagram in the service manual does show an unused connector labeled "Option." Hmmmm....

 

Does it happen to show where this connector is located and maybe something like what color. I can't seem to physically find it. Thanks

 

Take the Cover off at the Bottom of the Speedo and with cover off there should be a Connecter. like JT, said it's on the Right side..
There are 2 Connecters you can't miss them there's Caps on them.

It does not show where it's physically located. I'll have to check the wire colors when I get home.

 

The "Option" connector wires are Orange/Green and Black/White. It's powered from Fuse 5.

Yes, there's also a 2-pin connector to hook up a switch to put it into "dealer mode" which allows you to read malfunction codes on the digital dash display.

 

I have to ask, do the heating element components reside underneath the material your hand touches, or are they inter molded within the grip material itself? If possible, I'd like to use the elements in combination with iso grips using thermal transfer material, but don't know if it's possible.

hmm, oh well, perhaps the hand guards and some gerbings gloves will work as I prefer the look of the isogrips.
