if I hook up 2 cables to my battery so that I have easier access for a possible jump start, what gauge cables do I need for a 2009 400?

If you plan to jump start from your cables, they need to be almost the same as your current battery cables.

At 13.5 VDC 12 ga. wire, up to a couple feet long, is good for 100 A; up 2 feet or less of 10 ga. will carry 150 A...

You do not need any extra cable for the jump start. Same two battery cables enough for the jump start. I am not an expert but i am telling with my experience.
