What did you do with your non-Burgman scooter today?

I've seen threads like this on other forums and figured "why not?"

So to start. Today was very windy. Temps are around 74F which is really warm for March in central Iowa. And sunny too. But the clouds are moving in and getting ready to rain about 2 inches in the next 2 days starting tonight.
So my wife and I pulled the Rav4 out of the garage and washed it. It is white, but was starting to look a really darker shade of gray.

While that was being done I decided to also pull out the AK 550 and wash that as well. It was overdue from winter/cold riding. Before I bought my AK I was unfamiliar with how to care for a bike with a Matte finish. I noticed that some people have equated that to a satin finish but those are 2 different finishes... not the same thing. Even the cleaners that are specialized for those finished state they are for Matte AND Satin finishes.

Anyway, before I bought mine I had posted the question about how to properly take care of a Matte finish and the most common reply on a few different forums was to simply wash with clear water and wipe down with a microfiber cloth. NO cleaners (at least never use cleaners made for most car bodies or motorcycle panels) or that will cause the Matte finish to become blotchy and look really bad. And definitely NO WAX. That would be even worse on the Matte finish. As I said above there are special cleaners made for a Matte finish but I figured the most economical method was the most commonly suggested one... rinse well with just water and wipe with a microfiber cloth. So that's what I did. The bike looks new now!

In a few days after the rain is done I'll be going out for a ride.

I have a similar "Moped Screen" here from the old Yamaha XS650. It has the round cut out to fit over the headlight bucket. There are thousand of variants.
But in keeping with THE subject of this thread...

What did you DO with YOUR scooter today?
Sorry, feel free to delete the off-topic posts.
While it did drift some ( a lot) they are doing this to a NON-Burgman bikes. :p

But if wanted by Bob, we can delete some off.
Those are some funny foot rests sticking out.

Tromper, Don't let them know its been 90+ F here for weeks and NO rain for about a month. My water bill is $680 for 2 months now. Those members down in Arizona and Texas may move up here being its winter time to them.

I changed my last Car tire on my Burgman 650 at 65 years old and it kicked my butt. Looks like it will last till I'm 68 or 69 (1+ year).

Muffs or Hippohands do not work on a 650. Well, they do work but you can not see the mirrors.

I love my house all except a couple things. We have the standard 7 foot 6 inch ceilings on both floors. Built in 1987, the 10 foot ceilings had not come back in style yet. Grew up in old 'Queen Ann' style homes so 12 foot downstairs and 10 foot up stairs. I really love the old Craftsman or Victorian homes but wife did not want one. 48 years together who am I to buck the system? ;)

We do have a large Foyer that is half open to the cathridal ceiling upstairs, 24 feet, and we have had a 14 foot Noble Fir Christmas tree in there but our 2 year old grand son will mess with it.

Another few shopping trips on the bike today..................

........................The bags of chips did go under the seat for better protection. I hate it when my chips get crunched.
Back in 2016 I applied for a job at our local Ferd Meyer (Krogers). When the interview was over and they said I could start, they asked me what department I would like to work if I could pick, I said in the aisle of Potato Chips as I wanted to be the guy that smashes the begebers out of all the bags.

You still get the job?
Yes and NO. Got the job but was in the Electronics part of store but I could not do the lifting requirements of Big Screen TV's. So before we did any paperwork it was mutually agreed upon they needed someone else.

I was still recovering from my accident but "Employment Securities Office" (unemployment office) was making me do job applications, 3 per week.

But back to "What did you do...."

Sunday I got my sons 1991 Ninja 500 into the garage and started it up after draining the tank and flushing the carbs. It has sat for 5 years. I will be doing some mod's to it to gain efficiency not Horespower. It will be used to power something like these:

Your mileage on the AK550 seems about right in cold weather. I think my Burgman 650 got 54 MPG when warm but the few weeks I rode in 10 to 12 degrees F I got about 46 MPG. I was commuting 42 miles so a bit less than 2 gallons round trip.

My 2006 Subaru Outback XT runs the battery down in about 25 days. But sometimes the rear dome light gets turned on and it will kill the battery in 10 hours.

My 2003 Burgman will not start after 3 months of non use.
No riding for a little while. Staying home to take care of my wife in addition to the Charley (Cavalier) and Meeshka (Min Pin).
I WAS planning a ride to eat ride across the state 150+ miles away on Saturday but family trumps riding.

My wife flew back from a little get away to Florida on Sunday night. That afternoon before the flight she started not feeling well. Sharp pain in chest. So she set up to see the Dr on Tuesday (soonest available based on symptoms).

On Tuesday she was feeling better but the sharp pain was then a dull pain with pressure like a weight.

Wednesday tests came through and showed an elevated d dimer as well as a few other not so good results and Dr called about lunch time saying to go right away to ER. At Hospital we checked in and then waited a very long time to get in for a CT scan. Then waited another long time to actually see a Dr there.

D dimer elevated usually means a dissolving blood clot but the test is not always accurate. Turns out the CT showed a lump in the lungs that with all the symptoms was determined to be pneumonia. The chest pain was exactly where that lump was located.

While checking in they also now check for Covid and just before we checked out they came in to say my wife also had Covid. We were there almost 5 hours. Don't know if pneumonia came first or was a result of the Covid since she really wasn't around many people until she got on the plane after the chest pain had started. Anyway.

Before the Dr called to tell us to go in to ER she was suddenly feeling very drained and layed down on the couch and fell asleep until the Dr called and woke her up. She felt worse as the afternoon wore on. Now on antibiotic and also Paxlovid (for the Covid). Today seems to be worse than yesterday and she can hardly walk to the bedroom.

So no riding for me until she is over this stuff. Just as well. Yesterday it had started freezing rain and 31F temps. That continued to this morning so ice is everywhere, but all day today has been snow flurries on top of the ice already down. Walking on the grass in the back yard with the puppies was strange since every blade of grass was an icicle. Temps have been falling all day also and will bottom out around +7F in the early morning.
Wishing your wife a speedy recovery. Hoping you do not come down with those two illnesses.
Wife and I got Covid twice late last year and I am still recovering from SRV that I got from my grandson in January, who got it from his "Party Animal" dad.

From the timeline I's say she got pneumonia first while down in Florida and then at the airport she was infected with Covid and it took a few days to for her comprised immune system to show.

I was told getting Covid while on the plane is not as easy. You must still wear a mask while on board and in all airports.....
On a plane, the air is blown in at the top of the cabin and sucked out at foot level. And the incoming air is mostly fresh air heated by the jet engines/APU and mixed with a bit of filtered cabin air.

I did a slight edit in your quoted part for flow. I did not edit your post.

... and (see post 213, above) the trip included a couple of runs through Massachusetts' only hairpin turn (practice for my Alps tour coming up in July):

And just today my niece changed plans on my trip to Maine in July, its now in September. So I could have gone on that motorcycle tour with you.

I should have posted this yesterday......

Sold the 400 Majesty yesterday. Nice scooter, and it runs like a new one, but not enough power for the roads I want to travel this summer. Getting upwards of 75+ pounds of gear plus me and riding gear on, it and it just didn't have the power for the mountain passes I'll be traveling.
