How much should a warranty for a 400 or 650 run you lets say from 1 year up to 5 years? Im having a hard time believing some of the quotes im getting from dealers on this question. I thought i heard some of you say that the dealer will throw a warranty in for free. Any thoughts?

You don't say where you live, that can make a difference. Florida for one, will Not honor the warranty from oneidasuzuki.com.

Thats correct. In Florida you must but warranty from dealer. Most will not throw in the warranty. A 5 yr will cost around $500-600. Also note that
a five year includes the 1st year which is actually covered by (Suzuki) warranty. Then you also get 4 more years. So you really only get a 4 yr extended
warranty but pay for a 5yr. It is not the 1 yr manufactor warranty plus 5 more years

Yup, I agree.

For mine it was $799 for the five year (4+1) when I bought my 2011 Exec in October of 2012.

Fortunately the price of the bike was discounted enough that this didn't matter.

Are the warranties a hassle to deal with when something goes wrong with your bike? Does the dealer give you the run around?
I purchased a warranty when i bought my first Burgman, a 2007 AN400 in April 2008. In 2009 i began having some clutch issues, like a grinding noise.
There was a bulletin put out from Suzuki on this. I brought my bike in, the dealer said it seems like you need the fix stated in the bulletin. They took my warranty
info, called Suzuki, and Suzuki autorized the $1200. repair. They also redesigned the air intake which was causing the problem sucking dirt into the clutch
assembly. This issue was fixed for the 2008 model. So, i had no issue with the warranty process but my issue was actually a bulletin put out by Suzuki.
On the warranty it tells you what is... and what is not... covered. Keep meticulous records because you must follow the maintainence requirements by Suzuki or they will
void your warranty.
The Suzuki warranty is much better than any 3rd party after market warranty a dealer might try to sell you. I have a friend that had a after market warranty on his "05" 650
and it was a nightmare for him to get his fixed. They tried every trick in the book not to cover his repair. Just a FYI...
