Hi folks, been a while since I chimed in. Things are good, my daughter had my grandson in October, he is a delight. She was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer whilst 6 months pregnant with him. She underwent 1 course of chemo, he arrived 1 month early but a healthy 7lbs. She then underwent a few more sessions of chemo, a whole course of radiation and just had surgery April 30 to remove her left breast and 8 lymph nodes. She is recovering slowly. Pathology reports show no malignant cells so her survival chances have gone from 3% to more than 87%. That is wonderful and amazing. I am working in a wonderful full time job and have been for 9 months now. I am a receptionist in an optometrist's office and enjoy it very much and the pay is decent too. I get end of the month bonuses every month based on how the previous month was and so far, each bonus has been over $400. So long as I keep the doc booked up I get the bonuses which is sweet. I am also trying to get a place of my own instead of renting and will see next week if I am successful. Things have really turned around for me in the last year, life has really changed. Thank heavens for the better, it could not have gotten much worse. All I need now is to get another Burgman and I would be all set. But that is another priority that will have to wait a bit. But I do miss it and the riding and of course all of you. Take care. Hugs Sally.

That is mostly great news. Good to hear. Hopefully the daughter can be in full remission and no relapses. The big "C" hits both sides of my fokes family. I get all my tests done when needed.

Keep living good and healthy.

Sally thank you for the update. I have kept you, your daughter and grandson in my prayers, even though I couldn't remember who(your name) I was praying for. But I know God know who I meant. If I remember right you had some worries about your grandson also, and since you didn't say anything about his health I assume he is doing fine. I glad to hear your job has worked out good for you, and hope you can get another Burgman soon. I remember you were having problems with your teeth did you ever get a chance to get them fixed? I hope things continue to improve in your life and I will keep your family in my prayers.

Model28a, yes I am getting new crowns and a partial denture plate in 3 weeks time!! I have a great dentist and am getting the deal of the century. He is doing $10000. worth of work for $2800. He wants me to have a brand new smile and durable teeth - due to milk allergy I never really had calcium growing up and am also lactose intolerant so don't eat dairy products now either. I received an inheritance a few months back from my still alive step Mum who believes in giving to family whilst she is still alive and used some of it to kick start the process of getting my teeth fixed. I have had 3 pulled, many others ground down to accept the crowns and have gone nearly every Monday for the past 2 months (Sundays and Mondays are my days off) to the dentist's office for work to be done, some of it was unscheduled as to when my gum got inflamed and the dentist had to take off the temporary cover and laser the gum tissue so it would recover. Then he had to make my temporary plate longer so my bottom teeth could not rub on the inside of my upper teeth which was the cause of the trouble plus a strawberry pip got up in there too. Then we discovered my entire jaw was out of alignment so I had electric shock tens therapy on my jaw to bring it back into position so the dentist could then take a mould of how it should be and work with that. All told many, many hours of free work done at no cost to me.

Thank you for all the kind comments. My grandson is fine, he was a healthy weight, was just the biggest premmie in the ICU for a while. He is now over 20lbs and doing great. He jabbers all day long, what language he is speaking we don't know. Babyese I suspect LOL. He is starting to eat regular foods pureed and reaching for everything in his reach. He can sit up for about 30 seconds and then it is like watching the leaning tower of Pisa fall over. And down he goes, whomp. It is so much fun being a grandmother, I get to see him about once every 3 weeks or so and love being able to interact with him but also hand him back. Between my daughter's hospital visits and her health problems we cannot seem to get together any sooner than every 3 weeks. Then there is her Dad and mother/father in law to see also. Her sister in law provides breast milk for little one to have as it is full of health giving immunities and she is still feeding her own daughter so it does not take much to pump for her nephew.

So life has really changed for me and hopefully it continues on in the same vein. Cheers and hugs Sally.

Hey Sally, just the other day I was just reading a year old (or so) PM you sent me. It made me sad because you were selling your Burgman and struggling financially. I almost never visit the Tavern but for some reason decided to tonight and found this awesome post from you!!!! I am so thrilled that your life has improved during the past year or so. Congratulations on the new addition to your family. It sounds like your daughter is doing well too - what a dramatic increase in survival odds. I will be praying for all of you. I lost my Dad to lung cancer in 2006 and Hilarye's Mom was just diagnosed with liver cancer last Friday, so I can also relate to the fight with the "Big C". Hang in there and God Bless!

Sally, I don't know you but you seem to be a nice person and from the people who have responded here I don't think I am wrong in this. It made me sad to hear that things had got bad for you but I am delighted to hear that things are looking up. I will add you to my prayer list and ask that good things happen to you. Maybe a house and a Burgman soon?

Isn't it nice to be a grand-parent? I have two grand-children, a grand-daughter who is 13 by my daughter and a grand-son who is almost 2 by my son. Don't get to spend much time with my grand-daughter as she lives in San Diego but I do get to see my grand-son as his parents live only about 90 miles from us. I get to help spoil him rotten. He has already figured out that Memaw and Peepaw and the soft touches in his family. I just grin at my son and daughter in law when they give me "the look". Fun, fun, fun.

further update

Hi All, well I just passed being at work for a year!! Woo Hoo. The time has flown by and I still love being back at work and doing the job that I do. Grandson is now 10 months old and is adorable. My son in law has said that my daughter will NOT be going back to work, he wants her to be with the baby full time and will do all that he can to support her in that venture. He works from home and earns a fair wage but is willing to work even harder so she can relax and bring up their son without having to go back to work. Whatever works for them is all I can say, it is their lives and they have to do what they think is best for them.
I tried getting a mobile home a couple of months back but because I had not been at my job a year could not get the financing. Going to try again in another 2 months and see what they say. If I have to wait, well I will continue saving up and waiting. Time is on my side. I don't have to move and where I rent now is a nice place and central to everything and only 20 minutes door to door to work and home. Still hankering after another Burgman- that darn addiction of having one gets in your blood and stays there LOL. one of these days........... Anyway thank you for all your kind words, miss all of you guys and gals. hugs Sally.

the big question is, does the place you live now, give you room to work on your new burgman when you get it :)

Sally, glad to hear things are looking better all the time. It's sad you have to go through such bad things to truly appreciate the good ones. Your family are still in my prayers, you will get a new home and Burgman if it is meant to be. As you already know as long as you have your health, food and your family you have what matters.
