What is the trick to removing this thing ? I can move it in and out about 1/16 of n inch and that's it . Is the magnetization hold it on that strongly ?
I've used every tool in the box and it will not budge .
Yes it is just the magnet that is holding it on. When I first tried to remove mine I thought it was hanging on something and I kept looking trying to find it. Looking in the manual I could not see anything it could hang on. I finally gave up and just pulled hard and off it came. Those are some strong magnets.
I just happen to thing, you have broken it loose with the special tool haven't you. If not you will need to do that before you can pull it off. It is a press fit for about the last 1/3 inch or so then it just pulls off.
You need to press the flywheel off using a bolt screwed into the flywheel, while keeping the flywheel from turning. After that the stator and crank position sensor unbolt and come off together.
Yes you do need the M-20 X 1.5 bolt. It screws into the threads you can see in the rotor and pushes against the end of the crankshaft where the bolt you removed screws in. You don't have to move the rotor far before it gets to a point you can pull it off but you will have to use the M-20 X 1.5 bolt to move it that short distance.
OK I think I have that , if the auto parts doesn't have one I'll go to the industrial nut and bolt place . By the way , when I saw the threads on the cap / rotor I thought that might be the answer .
