Hello,

Just bought my 3rd 650. 09, 14,000 miles, like new!
Was thinking about putting a hitch on it with one of those V looking tow bars that you put the front wheel of a MC in. Any idea if that would work towing a 238 LB XT225 Yamaha or just the stupidest idea ever.

Thanks,

hh

The XT225 may or may not have oiling to the gear box when the engine is off. Even in netrual it may splash lube the spinning gears and bearings inside the trans but I do NOT have the knowledge if it does.

Best to find a XT225 forum to ask.

A 1980 Goldwing does have splash lube to flat tow.
A Burgman 650 does NOT!!!! It requires the engine oil pump to supply pressured oil to the always turning Clutch

Friend bought one of those hitches to pull xt225.
Told him must take off chain!
I used it to pull my xt, did not pull off chain as was in hurry to go from Eagle Id to Sun Valley.
Well bike started hopping up and down, lots of smoke also.
XT went into gear somehow and locked up. Starts right up, nothing in oil but must have bent shifting forks or ?
Tranny FKd. I was going 70!!
Will see if Burg can pull and if is safe?
Thanks much,

hh

I do not think any Burgman is safe to be towed behind at any speed.

I know for sure the 650 will blow up if you try.

Hello,
Towing with the Burg, not towing it.
Not sure of tongue weight of XT, but not much.
Would love to tow the XT to Death Valley, park the Burg for a week and ride off-road!
