I’ve often felt that the real reason many motorcyclists don’t winterize their motorcycles is that they keep holding off in hopes to squeeze in one more ride. Although the MO Towers are located in Southern California, many of us ventured from colder climes to the Great American West in an effort to enjoy year-‘round riding. The journalism gig is just something we managed to weasel our way into as a means of supporting our habit.

In an effort to help dedicated riders in places that have real winter, the following list contains sure-fire signals that it is time to winterize your motorcycle rather than continue riding it or letting it sit unprepared developing the mechanical manifestations of Parked Motorcycle Syndrome.

WHY DOES BURGMAN USA ALLOW THIS???

Motorcycle.com is owned by the same company that owns (and offers at no cost) burgmanusa.com. So unless you want to make this forum a paid subscription service, just avoid the clickbait that pays the bills.

The drizzle on your visor starts piling up instead of dripping off.

(Been there, done that. Fortunately, it turned back to rain again within half a mile.)

All hope is gone

With yesterday's blizzard the Winnipeg motorcycling season is down for the count. Terminado.

The only one of my bikes that got winter storage was a Honda 750K5 engine in a custom frame, stretched girder fork, custom paint and chrome. It wasn't just stored it was dismantled.

With our obligatory 3 days of winter no one down here winterizes anything. I had a lady roll down her window at a traffic light this evening and ask, "aren't you cold Riding that motorcycle?"(scooter). I raised my visor and answered back "not at all". She said it was hard to believe. I'm thinking it is only 49° F. I have to raise my visor at a xtended stops to cool off. I have to say though, a scooter with a nice running board and closed faring is so much more comfortable to ride in crisp temps than any motorcycle I've ever ridden. The closed face helmet makes a big difference also.
