So, your helmet keeps falling off the bike? Boy, do I have a solution for you.

Like many inventions and ideas, the Helmet Hook was born from frustration. I simply dropped my helmet one too many times.
My helmet only cost me $137 and it still hurt every time that thing fell on the ground and started rolling around. I can only imagine
what people feel that have a $500-700 dollar helmet...

Anyway, without further ado, I present the Helmet Hook...

• When you stop to get gas, hang your helmet on the Helmet Hook.
• No more hanging it on the rear view mirrors only to have to readjust them.
• Some bikes have helmet locks or you can buy an after market helmet lock but they are always attached to the frame
  meaning that your helmet WILL be resting against a hard surface, increasing the chance of it getting scraped up.
• The position of the Helmet Hook is IDEAL. It's at the furthermost point from the bike.
• If you have Bar End Weights on your bike (and if not, they're cheap) you can use the Helmet Hook.
• If you have Hand Guards, you can use the Helmet Hook.
• The Helmet Hook is compatible with virtually every bike on the market Street Bike, Dirt Bike, ATV, etc.
• Been shopping? Hang your bags on the Helmet Hook while getting your gloves out of the bike luggage, etc. Hang the
  bags and have your hands free to open the Top Box.
• Do you keep your bike on a Battery Tender? Hang the cables on the Helmet Hook to keep them from dragging on the ground.
  
• The Helmet Hook can be mounted facing the bike or facing out.
• Installation is very simple. Unscrew the Bar Weight or Hand Guard, put the Helmet Hook in place and screw Weight or Guard back on.
• You can hang your helmet from the STRAP, from the D-Rings or other type of attachment and it even works with ratcheting type straps.
• The Helmet Hook is made from 1/4" ABS Plastic and is very strong. In fact we offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY on the Helmet Hook.

• Note that the Helmet Hook was NOT designed as a Helmet Lock. It is designed for temporary use. Needless to say, you can leave it
  on there as long as you'd like but the idea behind it is to hang it while you get gas, stop and get something to drink and so on. That
  being said, we DID modify it so that it can now be used with a pad lock if you'd like to lock the helmet to the hook. We also sell the locks.
• The Helmet Hook has been updated and the diameter is now smaller which makes it more discrete and it now has the domain name

Important Information!

• IF you are unsure of whether the Helmet Hook will fit on your handlebars, send us a picture to [email protected] and we will let you know.
  Note that it will fit just about any handle bars that have either some kind of hand guards or bar end weights. Regardless if the bar end
  weights screw into the handlebars with a long bolt or they are the kind that has a screw that goes into a rubber that expands when you tighten it.

I have two of them on my Burgman. They work as advertised although you need to check frequently to make sure they aren't pulling your end weights out (they will pull them out). I just take a screwdriver (phillips) and tighten my weights every week or so which is a good idea even without the helmet hooks. Look around here on BurgmanUSA and you will find threads about people losing their end weights pretty often.

Just because you have never heard of it doesn't mean it isn't happening. It does happen and if you aren't checking yours to make sure that the screws are tight from time to time I expect you will find one of yours missing in action someday.

Loctite isn't the answer. You may someday want to take one of them off. With them fixed with loctite, the screw assembly may just spin in place without loosening.

After having to tighten my left one (it's always the left one) several times in the last few months I finally out of frustration took it off, cleaned the inside of the bar with rubbing alcohol and then swapped a glob of fingernail polish on the expanding part of the weight and reinstalled it and tightened it up real good. That seems to have done it as it has been quite a while since I did that and my weight is still nice and snug on the bar.

Can happen on any bike that uses the type of setup that Suzuki uses on the bar end weights. Never have seen it happen on bikes with the fake bar end weights, just the one with the real weights. Never happened on my Honda Pacific Coast, it had a different type of system on the 1989 model - a screw in one. You might be screwing yours in tighter (or whoever put the bar ends on your bikes). That might explain why you are not seeing this with your bikes. As I have gotten older I find that muscle mass has gone away. I now tell people that I have the grip of an eleven year girl. Kind of hard to take to tell the truth. I was a US Marine for 8 1/2 years and was in really good shape as a young man. I guess that our mortality bites us all at some point. Never thought I would see the day that I would struggle to lift some bikes off of the side stand either. I am going to stop before I get too far into the pity party stuff now.

Guess you not have burgie very long, me lost one on 2005 and on 2009 also, happen to many BUSA member also.

This actually best way to fix problem, not have this problem again after. It hold and hold and hold and hold and hold.

If any of you know golfers who regrip their clubs, a piece of grip tape inside the bar will hold the end weight securely.

As smooth at that engine is, this surprises me though.

A word of warning from one of my friends. He had his helmet on his handlebars in a similar manner when he stopped at the bar for a "quick one." Unfortunately, when a drunk guy comes out of a bar, he can evidently mistake an upside down helmet for a urinal. My friend discovered this the hard way.

I solved the problem by tightening the Philips end screw with an impact wrench. I just tapped it. It never got lose again.

Another helmet lock

I have a Givi V46 top box on my 650 with the black metal grate on top. I use an ordinary medium size padlock to secure my helmet to it. Mounted this way it is very secure and will not fill up with rainwater or fall off or be stolen when left unattended.

There are two Chappy, one on either side of the seat. With the seat open, look way down front, there are two matte silver "hooks" that you can hang the helmet d-ring on. But it's not very easy. It's actually quite difficult and I use them only as a last resort.

However, if you used them in conjunction with a helmet lock cable. It might be pretty easy. Something like this.
