SUGGESTIONS FOR A GOOD MODULAR HELMET

My HJC CL-Max is a great helmet...I have none of your problems

My wife has a KBC FFL and it's a good helmet as well.

But as everyone says, each brand and model fit different so you gotta remeber to take your head with you when you go to buy one... :lol:

Polyian, I'm just south of you, in western Washington. Do you wear your CL-MAX in the rain? I've adjusted mine every which way, have replaced the shield, and have had the dealer twiddle with it...and it still leaks copious amounts of rain down the inside of the shield.

My wife has a matching helmet, and I switched to that when my shield latch broke. Her helmet did exactly the same thing: vision obscured with water on inside of shield, and then the shield latch broke.

One vote firmly against the Fulmer M1. The latch on mine broke. So did my dad's. Yah get what yah pay for with them. I liked my G-Max full face but it was always half a size too small. Looking at their new modular or maybe a Nolan or a Scorpion.

I don't spend much time in the rain so I can't comment on leaks...guess I'll find out someday but I usually avoid the rain...I don't commute

That's odd, I've had very good luck with the Fulmer Modus helmets. I wore my last one out after a couple of years and got a new one free because of a old recall I noticed when shopping for a replacement. One thing i don't like about the Modus is that it's a noisy helmet... but earplugs fixes that issue for me.

I just picked up a Shark Evoline modular (Grand Urban model in black), love the helmet. Quiet, and very good fit/finish/feel. ECE-22 rated, from what I understand it's the only modular that has ECE-22 certification in both 3/4 and full face modes.

It has the built in sun shade, with the slider on top of the helmet, kind of like military flight helmets. Nice feature for riding early or late in the day.

Stainless steel latches, and it comes back in to latch. Very firm, good feeling latch.

Also, my MSF Basic RiderCourse instructors loved it.

As many respondents mentioned, before you buy a helmet, you need to try it on. I've been riding in Nolan N102 for the last 3 years. It's noisy and heavy, but it doesn't leak, well balanced, and comfortable. So when I saw the new Nolan N103 at a motorcycle show, I was ready to buy one. But when I put in on, two things unpleasantly surprised me. First, it was even heavier than N102 (it's actually among the heaviest helmets on the market), and second, the ear cavities were too low for my ears creating constant pressure from above. I obviously skipped this one.

The fit is perfect and the quality is very good. The noise is mild for a modular and the venting is excellent.
Has a lot of good features to it. Took a chance on the fit, with an on line order.
As it turned out it fit like a glove with the MSF recommended amount of movement a helmet should have.
It actually feels like it's part of my head. One of my major points I was looking for was a outside visible release tab, rather then some that are concealed on the inside chin area.

It's on my recommend list for the price range

+1 on the N103 being a heavy helmet. In addition to the C3, I own a N103 as well. For me I really feel the neck strain after a weeks worth of daily use or any extended multi hour ride. + Noise levels for me for daily use are to high at highway speed. Sadly now I keep the N103 in the closet for a backup helmet if needed. It is a quality built helmet though.
