Hellow fellow owners!

today I made a small ride of about 40 kilometers, no highway roads.
Everything was ok (no indicators showing something abnormal, it handled as normal, all liquids are at normal level - oil and coolant, etc).

But when i finished my ride and wanted to store my burg in its garage, a few seconds after I shut down the engine, I heard this very strange mechanical sound, coming from, I think, the area of the center stand.

I'll let the fragment speak for itself:

What the hell was that?
What are your ideas about this?

Many thanks!

forgot to mention: after all that, I made a small ride where I tested every function of the engine & CVT and really stepped on it (not all the time)
so, automatic, manual, gear changing, power mode etc.

Than I gave it a rest and I stored it once again in my garage and waited a little longer, but I didnt hear anything this time...
However I wouldn't dare to say the problem is now "solved"...

More than likely that was just the moaning sound you sometimes get from the pressure relief valve on the gas tank. The valve is located on the right side of the bike above the area where the center stand mounts. It's a normal thing and nothing to worry about.

Buffalo is probably right (here in California ours are different) and you could verify it is buy slowly removing the fuel cap, if it vents and the noise stops that's all it is. Also when it vents I'd assume you might be able to smell the fuel vapors being vented. First time I've ever heard the noise people describe in our other states without the California emissions package, thanks.

Thank you

I just want to post a "Thank you" for this thread. I too have the funny, strange sound coming from around the center stand on my '09 that, to me, sounded like an hydraulic cylinder releasing. But after reading your answer I am convinced your answer is THE answer. Thanks again. :D
