Storing helmets in/on Burgy

I have just purchased a shiny new bright yellow Nolan N104 helmet. I haven't received it yet and wondered where other riders store their helmets when their bike is parked. My old HJC-IS-33 helmet would not fit in the under seat storage and when put in the Givi box it got badly scratched over time. I was thinking of making a plastic covered wire lanyard with a pressed loop at the ends and locking the helmet to one of the hand rails.
Any better suggestions would be appreciated.

BTW: I purchased the helmet at Competition Accessory's on the internet. Their price were $149 less then any one else with free shipping, no sales tax and no restocking fees if I don't like it.

Don't the 650's have a helmet hook under the seat like the 400's?
Yes, they do and I found pics here: http://burgmanusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22354&start=0
Scroll down to see them.

I had the same problem, one thing to check - Are you putting the helmet in with the chin bar locked ? try putting it in with the chin bar unlocked it gave me the extra inch i needed , as the chin bar was raising the helmet up just enough to foul.

I know they have the helmet lock - i found it super fiddly, ymmv, so i bought a cable from jcwhitney - BTW just this weekend i heard of someone losing their shiny new helmet connected this way because the cut the chinstrap (removing the drings) ! Maybe it was vandalism but sheesh - some people.

i preferred top case

After doing a little research on this site I did find some ideas on how to use the mounting hook under the seat. It worked fine with my old helmet that has D rings. It will not work with my new helmet as it has no D rings. I plan to mount the helmet to the hand rail or the rack on top of my Givi V46 box with a steel lanyard through the modular section of the helmet......unless someone has a better idea.
That would be safe.
I have seen many lock their helmets and jackets with coated steal cable for security.
My buddy had his half helmet stolen at the last hockey game we went to...They cut the strap.... :?
You could keep the helmet cover/bag thing in the GIVI and that might prevent the scratches.
My Nolan helmet came with a storage bag. As Scotty mentioned, you could just carry the bag with you and put the helmet in it.

I have used a coated bicycle lock to secure mine to the handrails when I have the topcase and underseat storage area full of luggage. That works well.

You can also get a piece that slides through the catch on the Nolan helmet that will let you use the normal cable lock. It's just a T shaped piece of metal with a hole drilled in leg of the T. You slide it through the catch and the bar of the T keeps it from going all the way through. You then put the cable that goes in the under seat hook through the hole in the leg of the T. You could cut one out of a piece of sheet metal if you didn't want to buy one.
I have a Scorpion Exo 900, which I find fits under the seat in both my 400, and my 650. Also fits in the Bestem Boxes (2012) that I have on each bike.

I keep my helmet bag under the seat when wearing, and put the helmet in this when storing (well, sometimes at least).

It's not always an easy fit, as I have a Scala Rider II unit attached, but when in the right position, it fits.

Perhaps your new helmet will fit, but only in one position, like mine?
