The rotating collar in the speedo sending unit
on the front wheel is probably broke...the lube
gets dry, & they seize-up & break. Usually in
Remove the 2 pieces, clean real good...glue with
super-glue..let dry...lube with grease & re-install.
Or...order a replacement from the dealer, & wait
until next Spring to repair.
Like Duster said, probably the rotor in the speed sensor on the right side of the front wheel axle. Common problem, easy fix. Preventive measure is to make regreasing it part of your regular maintenance schedule.
