Anyone out there ever install either of these systems, and if so, what has been your experience with them?

or this system with these speakers:

The DX thing looks interesting, too bad the remote is infrared instead of radio. Would be nice though for using mp3's on SD card.

I've bought a few shark systems, last one being the 600 watt. In less then a year I started having issues with it , bass being all broke up, like if the voice coil went bad. One of the problems with it is that when powered on, it goes to full volume right off, so you have to be ready to turn it down right away. That could be why the speakers went bad.
This time I'm ordering one with the new 400 watt speakers.
But I' am interested in the units from China. Very cheap, so I'm wondering if the total power out is really what they post. Even if not, a 180 watt system should be loud enough to hear on any bike.

About the shark system, 600 watt. I've read that it's supposed to have an eq built into it, but I never saw one on the system I have. Of course the read out pretty much sucks, very hard to see anything on it.

I'd love to hear from others their experience with any of these systems.

Just got this reply from Shark on the 600 watt system:

the 600 watt does not - the others do - yes you will be able to read the LED readout - and yes that issue was fixed along time ago

Before I send the money, I have a few more questions.
In reading up on this amp, people are saying that it has an equalizer ?? I never had one on the 600 watt one I have now.
Also, will I be able to ready the led readout? I could never read the one I have now unless I got right in front of it and it wasn’t very sunny.
Also, did they fix the issue with the volume being on full when powered on? I’m sure that is what killed my speakers that I have now.

Please get back to me with answers to these questions.

Well, because they say they fixed the issues with the shark 600 watt, I'm going to buy one again and try it. If I still have issues with it, then I'll go to the $30 - $40 units and give them a try.
My concern is, getting a unit that is powerful enough so that I can crank the volume without getting clipping at the higher levels.

Some of the testing I've seen on youtube for the dx units, they clip at a much lower level then they claim they can go.

I bought a pair of the $10 speakers they had on sale last Fall.
Available in chrome or black...I chose black. Sort of oval shaped.
Later I bought the $32 FM/USB/AUX receiver, also on sale.
The receiver unit has RCA pigtails..perfect match for the
speaker leads. Bob oh boy, is this setup LOUD. The volume
control reads from 0 to 15.....hooked it all up on my desk
for a test...even volume setting #1 was too loud for in the
house. Higher numbers get louder from there. The receiver
has AUX out for earphones or helmet speakers, & has AUX
input for ipod, XM receiver, or whatever.
The speakers came with brackets to mount to mirror stems...
may work fine on a motorcycle...not so much on a Burgman.
I've seen pictures posted of these same speakers mounted
to the dash vents on a Burgman...worked OK for those riders.

I installed a marine radio with a wired remote along with 4 of the Shark waterproof speakers. I put on a trunk, where the radio is installed, with two of the speakers mounted on the trunk. I installed two other two speaker just in front on the mirrors. The remote is mounted right where the Burgman logo is located. Routed all the required wiring up to the front. Installed a right angled antenna on the side of the trunk. The radio has CD player, weatherband and MP3 input. I am very satisfied with the setup. I have about 250 in the trunk, speakers, antenna and radio. I did have a Shark 250W but did not care for it at all,the FM drifted off frequency.

Duster,
I made U shaped brackets and mounted my speakers to the reservoirs for the brakes. Speakers are close and very easy to hear.
Originally I had them down by the vents, but was hard to hear them, especially when at highway speeds.

You have a picture of those brackets? I have mine mounted in front of the mirrors and they are hard to hear out on the road would like to try them up on the brake reserviors. That would allow me to put the fuse back in for the powered mirrors.

Funny, I was just looking up motorcycle sound systems before I read this post. I have used helmet speakers in the past with limited success. Mostly now I just sing to myself...

This looks interesting though. I've always wanted a high power sound system to play mp3 recordings of Harley Exhausts through.

Seriously though, has anyone used motorcycle sounds system with any success? Can you really hear them at speed? I wear a scooter style helmet to reduce noise, and custom earplugs on long rides.

hell yah, most all of my systems have been easy to hear at highway speeds. Of course I'm not riding a friggin loud-a$$ harley.
I like a low deep rumble, but not so loud as it would bothers others around me.

I'd like the Japanese scoot manufacturers to follow the Chinese scoot manufacturers lead when it comes to offering sound systems e.g. MP3/FM players. I have had two Chinese maxi scoots which offered as standard (Jetmax and a CF250T-VIP (Helix clone)) sound systems with built in speakers located within the tupperware at different points. On the CF250T-VIP there were two speakers in the front section tupperware down by the footwells, and two speakers inside the rear mounted top box facing forward while the stereo system was located on the 'ceiling' of the rear trunk. The CFMoto Jetmax has two speakers, with the controls integrated into the handle bar plastic covering on the mid section. The unit itself is located under the front tupperware section atop the dash instrument cluster. One has to remove the tupperware to access it if needed. The plug for the MP3 or USB are located inside the front lockable glove box. I wish other scooter manufacturers offered sound systems as factory standard or optional extras which are offered on the Chinese scoots.I'd guess that the Shark Motorcycle Audio and sound systems offered in the link above are sourced from mainland China, as some look familiar especially many of the speaker designs. Prices are far cheaper here though. :D

I bought a small after market FM/MP3 player designed for motorcycle application several months ago on TaoBao (Chinas version of eBay) for not much money (I can't recall at the moment, but think it was less than US410), but have as yet not fitted it to my AN650K7 as planned. Might get round to it, as the weather warms up. Snow outside today, though I was riding the K7 yesterday.

...the amount in bold was meant to read US$10 not US410. Apologies for the typo.

I agree bikerdoc,
I believe there are a HUGE number of people riding scoots of one size or another, that the manufacturers, like Honda Silverwing & Suzuki burgman, would off a basic scoot and a "goldwing" style, fully loaded up, with a nice sound system along with other niceties.

I often refer to my burgman 650 as my "mini goldwing" as it rides so smooth and looks great and with a nice sound system, even some goldwing riders have told me my sound system sounds better then what they have on their $23000 wing !!

But because they don't make maxi scoots with all the niceties, we're left to add our own systems a trinkets and bling bling.
But, thinking about it, I guess that allows us to personalize our scoots to suit our individual selves.

I am very pleased with the LG 700 HBS Bluetooth Headset as reviewed by LeDude. I use the headset with my iPhone5.

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=59994

I had the Burgman up to 75 mph on the interstate and could still hear the music from Pandora without interruption. The sound quality is very good in my opinion. The headset is very comfortable and the controls are very well placed.

I no longer have a rider, so I did not need to invest in a more elaborate system for music and phone. I have not used the phone to make calls, nor have I received a call. I always stop in a safe place if it becomes necessary to make a call.

I bought an extra headset in case I do have a rider and they too can enjoy music while riding.

Good luck to all and happy trails.
