I live in Southern Florida. The heat and sun Makes riding painful at times. In the past I've been riding with my sailing jacket. It has a SF rating of 50. However it has no protection other then for the sun. These kind of jackets are quite expensive for what they offer. Of course cost is no object if you are a yachtsman.

I tried a fishing shirt but roasted in it. My mesh jacket is too hot for riding unless you never stop. Is there anything out there with a large weave that is super light? Any other suggestions out there?

I live in Tampa so I understand the heat. I have a mesh jacket that doesn't cause me to much issue even at stops.

If your still to hot wearing the mesh have you tried some sort of cooling vest? I have used a cooling towel around my neck on really bad days before I got the mesh jacket. Try that

Try a cooling vest under your 3 season jacket (make sure you take out the jacket liner). Also make sure all the vents are open. Some guys I know swear it is a lot cooler riding like this versus a cooling vest under a mesh jacket. Worth a try. Also, I have a silk (washable) scarf from Aerostitch. I wet it and put it around my neck tucked into my jacket in the front. It helps.

I find that wearing a jacket is cooler, especially if you are out in direct sun.

Summer RIDING GEAR

I live in central florida and have just purchased an Olympia Renegade light weight jacket. It does have protection on the back and elbows but is light weight mesh. I wear a light-t shirt under it and it is surprisingly comfortable when under way. When stopped not so much but what is?
