Hmmmm, if it is shifting in auto mode that indicates the sensors, shift motor and pulleys are working OK. Possibly a problem with the switch unit on the left handle bar.
This has to be asked, are you using the up and down shift button when you go into manual, if so then the switch probably could use a good cleaning. Since we do not know how old the scoot is maybe it is just dirty from lack of use.
It has to be asked; have you or whoever pressed the D-M switch first to put the bike into manual, or are you just pressing the UP/DOWN buttons assuming that will put it into manual and execute a shift? :dontknow:
