Hello all, I'm a fairly new '05 Burgman 650 owner and in the process of installing a 100W Shark amp. I've already mounted the speakers to the upper tupperware of the handle bars. Now I need to know if I can run the hot & ground wire to the back of the power outlet. If not, what is the easiest way to connect it? I plan on placing the little amp controller inside the left compartment with velcro. The amp has a power on/off button. It also has a wireless remote control.

I put mine in the same place and got power from the back of the power outlet. I used a couple of double slip on connectors. The problem with the wireless remote is you have to keep the compartment door open to use it. I mounted my speaker right in front of the mirrors in those vent slots worked pretty well. My 250W Shark kept drifting off frequency when using the radio
but maybe that was just a flaw in my unit.

Thanks for the reply MrWick. I wanted to make sure there was enough juice in that area to power the small amp w/o draining the battery. I'll take pics of mine when I'm done and post them. What does the double slip on connectors look like? I may have some laying around.

I found the type connectors you were speaking of. I have one other concern. Is it OK to use that same ground coming off the power plug on the Burgie or should I ground it somewhere else on the frame?

Mr. JenksTheCat.....since we can no longer ReplyWithQuote, or EditQuote...
I'll just have to explain this the hard way...
the frame is not ground...even though there is a 'grounding' wire from
the engine to the frame.
GROUND is in the wiring harness. On a Burgman, never rely on the frame
or chassis for an electrical 'ground'.

Gotcha Duster.....I understand now. Luckily was able to get a couple of piggyback connectors from a neighbor who does electrical work. The only ones I could find otherwise was on-line (sets of 50 or 100) and I only needed two.

For NORM...

Don't have a quote button on the bottom right labeled QUOTE
On the bottom right I show a box Show Your Signature
On the bottom left I have a box Quote Message In Reply....
but it will only quote the immediate previous message...
I cannot go back 2 or 3 or 4 messages to quote something posted earlier...
very frustrating....

Well guys and gals, got it all hooked up and it's working like a charm. I was able to hear the system extremely well on the freeway this morning even with my helmet sheild completely closed! Thanks for your feedback and as soon as I figure out how to shrink the photos, I will upload some.
