Burgmeisters,

Is it just me or have the scammers REALLY increased their presence in the motorcycle classifieds? We have our 07 advertised here in Tennessee and in Cycle Trader nationally. Wow, did these 'ol boys climb out of the woodwork! The pitch is pretty much the same: your price is OK (it's really set a little high for negotiation room), I just need to find a shipper and then i'll pay you thru my Pay Pal account..."
Has any of y'all EVER sold a scoot to someone thru PayPal? We Googled up Pay Pal fraud and found some interesting ways to get skinned. Last night i talked to someone in Las Vegas who wanted to use PayPal to pay my price for the 07'- after he lined up a shipper. If this 'gentleman' wants to pay $700 for shipping plus our asking price, he's gonna be paying $5000 for a $4000 scoot! He cannot be that naive, and if he is, i'll not be the one to shaft him! And these boys are ALL coming from big cities where they have lots of product to choose from!
Now don't get me wrong, i want to sell this scoot for a fair price, but do these guys think scooter/ moto cycle dudes are totally devoid of common sense?
I think i'll rewrite the ads and say cash only, i'll meet you halfway within a 600 mile radius.
What do y'all think? Thanks for allowing me to vent!
God bless,

I have also received these kinds of replys to ads mostly from Craigslist. One guy wanted to buy my boat, sight unseen. In recent ads I requested cash only, no paypal, serious offers only. Honest buyers will work with you. Do not meet buyers halfway from your home. It may turn out to be a wasted trip. Hope this helps.

I have used PayPal many times for making purchases online - Just wait until PayPal tells you that the $$$$ is in your account......and withdraw it first!!! before you part with anything you are selling.........

there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there...

cover your basis, make sure you have funds in hands and secured before turning your ride with the title to anybody.

I am sure you will be able to find a local buyer soon... just be patient.

Most of the ooh yeah I need to find a shipper and will send funds via paypal are mostly scams.

If they really want the scoot, ask for a USPS certified check that can be cashed at a post office before turning the bike and title to the shipper.

good luck...
