I just got back last Friday from traveling about 1/3 of the historic Route 66. Coolest Polar Bear was with me on his 650 and we had another guy on a Goldwing. Great trip. So many places to stop and visit. Lots of history. Started in Chicago and took it south. Ended up in Oklahoma. We were going to go back the same way, but Arkansas beckoned, and we rode Route 62 east toward Eureka Springs (the best part of the ride as far as twisties and hills are concerned).

We weren't scheduled to return until Saturday, but we pushed it on Friday and rode about 470 miles to surprise our wives. It worked, but we were BEAT. Total trip was over 1,600 miles in 5 days. Lost the route a couple of times in Chicago, but otherwise pretty simple to follow.

The trip involved 5 states (other than our home state of Indiana), 4 of which I had never traveled on my motorcycle (Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas).

Looking forward someday to seeing the other 2/3!

We only made it as far as Miami, OK. Yes, we took Rt. 62 through the state and stopped at Inspiration Point in Eureka Springs. Beautiful country!

Don't remember the Throncrown Chapel, but we followed Rt. 62 all the way across Ark. from west to east.
