Hi All!
I have been having a difficult time finding riding gear that fits a full figured woman. :? The leather jacket I am currently wearing is quickly becoming unsuitable as the weather heats up. Does anyone know of any good companies to order from? I'm really uncomfortable riding without.
Many thanks!

Joe Rocket!

Hi Holly,

I just tried on a Joe Rocket perforated yesterday. Fit great and had plenty of room for my more than ample top. Plus it came in Blue to match the bike AND was on sale for $99! It was at Cycle Riders in Orlando. Their website is http://www.cycleriders.com

Hope this helps.

Hi Holly!

So called "women's" gear is often just downsized guy gear -- not really made for women. Which means often the sleeves are too long, the shoulders don't fit and there is no room for "the girls"! This can be pretty uncomfortable on long rides.I have found this to be the case with Aerostitch, First Tripp and Joe Rocket. Gloves are even worse. But take heart, there are new companys manufacturing for us gals. I wear First Gear and Brosh and both seems to fit well for me at an average size. You might also try:

This site has a lot of links that may help:

Just make sure the anti-abrasion material and the armour are of good quality.

Hope this helps.

Funny - I want a Joe Rocket Phoenix (Perforated) jacket (SIZE XL) in blue - did it come with the waterproof liner? Good price too BTW!

Norman,

They do come with the waterproof liner. I had ordered a Joe Rocket mesh jacket for my wife, but it did not fit her well. Ended up getting her a First Gear mesh jacket like mine (which also comes with waterproof liner).

The '03 and older Joe Rocket mesh jackets did not come with the liners nor the zipper installed. You bought the liner seperate and had to stich the zipper into the jacket. You'll still find a few of the older jackets on closeout here and there.

Ladies,

I have had very good luck with First Gear brand riding wear. Well made, good fit and they have plus sizes for those of us built for comfort, not speed.

My wife's issue with the Joe Rocket jacket was that the sleeves were too narrow for her arms. Almost had to peel it off of her when she tried it on. The First Gear jacket we substituted for it is cut fuller in the arms and fits her nicely.

Also check out http://www.newenough.com

They seem to have good prices, especially if you can find something on closeout. I got a few things, just came today. The shipped promptly, and shipping was very reasonable.

We bought my wife's jacket from New Enough. The exchange of the Joe Rocket for the First Gear went smoothly, and they shipped the First Gear jacket immediately. We actually received the First Gear jacket the same day that they received the returned Joe Rocket jacket. The only downside was that I had to pay postage on both the return and the new FG jacket.

Women's Wear

My wife has had good success with New Enough, as well. She bought a pair of Joe Rocket riding pants in "her size" When they arrived, while they fit well enough in the hips and waist, they were at least 6" too long. She's 5'4" and since there were no lengths offered, as they are for men's, she expected them to fit an average lady.

In talking with a lady at NE, she totally understood. They sent a replacement in a men's short version. They fit perfectly. They also sent an RMA label, so there was no additional out-of-pocket expense.

FWIW, neither the Joe Rocket, nor the First Gear ventilated pants can be readily altered for length. Between full-length zipper and knee and hip armor, it would be a major job.
