Ride planned

I'm planning a ride with my friend Dan. Finally, our personal worlds have aligned and we are both available this coming weekend. His favorite sandwich is grouper so I have two possible lunch destinations that I know to be consistently good, not selling you Tilapia like they do at the tourist locations. Just so happens my wife will be out in that area antiquing with her girlfriend's.... We may all be able to meet up for lunch. It's only Monday and I'm excited already, bike is clean, tire psi and fluids are checked, fuel is full. Blinker fluid is full, I'm ready to kick the tires and light the fire. Excited like a child for this.

It's tough to find the real deal at many restaurants. My favorite is plain old Atlantic cold water Cod or Haddock. I blacken my fish on the grill like a white steak.

Where will you be riding?
Right now it depends on Dan's availability and if he can afford a full day to ride. Either heading to Floral City, or we may wind up in Ozona at Molly good heads.

If he has very little time available then we stay local and ride out to IRB to a local yocal restaurant.

I remember those Starkist Tuna commercials..."Chicken of the Sea" 🤣

As far as fish go, being that I am Danish, I find Cod tasteless. For white fish I like Haddock, Grouper, Flounder, Snapper, Mahi Mahi and a few others like Pollick and Walleye. Pink or red fish I like Salmon and Steelhead/Trout and Kokanee . On the west coast we get a few different salmons.
Back in the 1970's, 80's and 90's my family were 'Honorary Members' of the Muckelshoot tribe and I would go out once a month with the tribe and get the King Salmon. We would clean and skure them and put them in a salt and honey brine for 4 hours then into the smokehouse for 2 days of alder smoke at about 130F. We would baste them with honey every 6 hours. I'd get 4 twelve pound halfs for my time.

Good stuff, if I lived in Washington, I would be enjoying Halibut and King Salmon.
Best Halibut I ever ate was in Kodiak Alaska prepared by an Aleut woman. It resembled a stew. The second best was King Salmon prepared by a Tlingit woman in Sitka, Alaska. Both of these visits were compliments of the US Coast Guard. Those were the great days. I never earned honorary status, but enjoyed meeting, learning.

Either heading to Floral City
If you think you'll make it there LMK, know this guy with a SW600 that love to meet up, just 50 minutes away, kinda asking for a friend. (he also has a B400, if the big H bike is not allowed )
Looks like we will be staying closer to home, just a lunch ride this time. I will be going next several weekends through Brooksville/floral City area, probably going alone, hard to find people to commit. Would be willing to meet up within my route.

Well, it happened. I was miserable. I used to stay outdoors from sunup till sundown and doing hard labor on my property, fences, roofs, landscaping etc... Then take the wife out for a nice dinner. This about killed me today, it was hot as Hades, so glad we stayed close to home. The traffic close to home was crazy, nice weekend, all at the beach. It was a madhouse. I've never been happier to get home from a ride. (and have never felt this way before) I wonder if something is wrong with me, maybe time for a doctor visit. No great ride reports this time...we rode, we ate grouper sandwiches and had good fellowship. It was simply too hot for enjoyment, stop and go city traffic compounded the heat issue. Happy to be home in the AC 😁

Douglas Lee...My friend has some rides he likes south of the Skyway, I usually won't head south, just North on my rides. He wants to lead so I will keep you posted when this comes together, maybe we can meet up in your neck of the woods. I will gladly welcome someone leading/planning, should be fun.

I've been sick since I arrived home, I'm thinking heat exhaustion/dehydration. I have never wanted to get home from a ride before. Oh well, one more change noted in my aging flesh body.

I didn't eat any chicken tastin bugs yesterday, didn't see a single bug yet this year. Maybe I had a worm filled grouper sandwich? I was violently sick last night, more than a hot day will do to you. I'm thinking food poisoning. All better now.

I will be sticking with my deep cold water white fillets going forward. Cod, Haddock & Halibut White steak of the sea. No more chicken of the sea:unsure:

The Ozarks are calling you, my friend 🤠 Sorry to hear you got sick from food poisoning. It happened to me once after eating at Waffle House. I got so violently ill that I ended up on the living room floor and had to have the ambulance come get me. It was a weeks long recovery. Won't eat at Waffle House again. Hey if you folks ever get around northwest Louisiana let me know. I work at a restaurant and we have some REALLY GOOD fried catfish!!!
