How do you reset the oil change indicator on instrument panel on 2011 burgman? It is different than earlier years. Also I had to put 3 and 1/2 quarts of oil in when I changed it today. This was with new filter and running it for a few miles and then letting it sit for 15 min. I had to put in another 6 oz to bring it to full mark. I love everything about my bike after putting 7000 miles on it over last 8 months except it is terroble as far as hitting even small bumps. I stay off interstate as much as possible. I try to plan rides on asphalt. Is there any softer shocks and someway to help front forks not jar my back to pieces. I would buy new forks and shocks if thats what it takes.

I had the same question & found it in the manual.. Not beiong a wise guy... I don't want to tell you the wrong way to do it... seems like I had to depress one of the buttons (adjust?) on the dash while the key was in "off".. and then then the key on and that reset it... I have a 2012.. which was different than the way to reset it after I did a search here.. so I checked my manual.. and figured it out...

Problem with the jarring is that small wheels drop further into any hole than large ones
so you get more movement and feel it more.

Thanks my dealer gave me wrong year manual and said it didn't change from previous years so the manual was the same as previous years. they were wrong. They could not figure out how to reset oil chang indicator. Obviously the don't sell to many burgmans. They sell about 4 different brands of bikes.

I would call the Suzuki customer service & complain.. That's not right..and I would ask for a correct manual..

Would some kind person post here the Secret Handshake not only for the
Inferno ST posted details for Resetting Oil Indicator, (good thread, thank you,) but also,

Change the 3000/3600 oil change indicator Interval also.

Gratefully, the Ambient Temp to Time, and zeroing out the trip o meter, etc is the same on the 2011 as earlier models. so we got that.

If there is one thing I hate about the Burgman is the crazy digital dash. Reminds me of the cheap digital watches of the 1970's that you had to read the manual to change the time. The dash on my Mercedes Sprinter is much the same way. One wrong move and you have 12:00am flashing interminately. Last time I changes my Burgman 400 I erased a long kept trip odometer reading.

Had that issue with a dealer once; they couldn't reset it because they only had the instructions for '11+ and mine is an '05. I looked up the answer on the boards here, and told them how to do it.

You'd think they'd keep it consistent across model years, but you'd be wrong.

Timely post - just changed the fluids at 600 miles and was scratching the noggin trying to remember how to reset the dash. Initially depressed both buttons and turned on the ignition - nada. Read this post and went to the garage and depressed the "Select" button and turned on the ignition, watched the "change oil" message blink and then disappear. Thanks!

I second that about timely value of this post, I find the owners manual of no help on this issue.

Same buttons and doesn't list a different procedure in the 2011 service manual.

To vary the preset interval of oil change indicator: 1. Push the SELECT and RESET buttons together for two seconds until INTERVAL display comes on. 2. Push the SELECT button to decrease the interval from the maximum of 6 000 km (3 600 miles) to the desired interval with a step of 500 km (300 miles). The minimum possible interval is 500 km (300 miles). 3. Push the RESET button to increase the interval from the minimum of 500 km (300 miles) to the desired interval with a step of 500 km (300 miles). The maximum possible interval is 6 000 km (3 600 miles). 4. Push the SELECT and RESET buttons together for more than two seconds.

I noticed your recommendation to change the oil change indicator. What do you recommend it be changed to and why?
Thanks,

On my ‘05 Exec, you press and hold both the select and reset buttons, then turn on the ignition and continue to hold both buttons until the Oil Change indicator flashes 3 times and goes out. Holding only the select button does nothing.

Miles between oil changes?

Hi...I am Tom. I just purchased a 2018 650 Executive. And just had the dealer perform the 600 mile maint. My question is.....since I want to reset the oil change to light up to a mileage amount......what is the norm for time/miles between each oil change? I probably not using the correct Thread but I will get better at knowing what is what. Thanks.

Depends on oil used and what you like. I use Dino oil and have mine set to 2,700 miles.

Tom, on the 2003-2012's when you push the "Select" and "Reset" buttons at the same time and then turn the bike on it will allow you to reset the reminder from about 2000 miles to 3500 miles in steps. I am running Syn oil and have mine set to 3500 miles but when it comes on I just reset it and ride till it comes on again and then change the oil and filter.

I believe that resets the oil change indicator Dave. Pushing both buttons with the key already on and holding until the interval comes up is how you see and set it.

To reset the oil change indicator:
1. Turn off the ignition switch.
2. Hold down the “SELECT” and “RESET” buttons together and turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Continue pushing on the “SELECT” and “RESET” buttons for two seconds.
3. Oil change counter will be reset to initial and the indicator blinks for three seconds.

To vary the preset interval of oil change indicator:
1. Push the SELECT and RESET buttons together (doesn't mention key should already be on)for two seconds until INTERVAL display comes on.
2. Push the SELECT button to decrease the interval from the maximum of 6 000 km (3 600 miles) to the desired interval with a step of 500 km (300 miles). The minimum possible interval is 500 km (300 miles).

4. Push the SELECT and RESET buttons together for more than two seconds.
