Replacement key

I do not have any OEM keys for my 2008 Burgman 400. I read about the magnets for the shutter, but want to know, has anybody in the forum ever had a non OEM key made from a blank (without the shutter lock). I read that the keys for some models have an immobilizer incorporated in the key that matches the ignition, similar to most vehicle keys. According to what I read in the service manual, the key and the ignition must be pared together or the scooter will not start. Is this correct for the 2008 models? I read several posts about buying blank keys with a magnet kit and opening the shutters, but read nothing about whether the new key would actually "start" the bike up. If anybody has actually used a replacement non OEM key and kept their original ignition, I would like to hear from you.

Thanks
Roger

I had a replacement key made for my 07 400 and it worked fine.

I am reading deeper and deeper into the service manual. It appears the chipped key is for non USA scooters. The manual is quite extensive and I have not had a chance to memorize it yet... (yea!! Okay). Anyway, thanks for the reassurance. I was getting worried that I was about to spend big bucks for a key.
I don't believe the Burgman has the SAIS - Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System - here in the US.

Only Asian and European markets
All good news.. Thank you for responding. It is a relief to know that.

Any good Key Shop should have or be able to get an
ilco blank...X241..SUZ18
It will work in the ignition just fine, but to be able
to 'push-in-and-turn' to operate the seat release,
the shoulders of the key-head will need to be ground
back at about a 45 degree angle. Been using mine this
way for over 6 years. Cost about $3 each.
