Re: First problem with 650

Hi All. I've got my first ever problem with my '04 650. It was fine on Friday when I parked it. This morning it won't shift out of low gear. It runs fine but is obviously fail-safed in low. I've driven a couple of miles, checked fuses and everything I can see but no joy. I haven't gone so far as checking error codes, which I suppose will reveal the problem. I just wondered if anyone else has had this and knows where to look. My dealer isn't open till Tuesday.

*Right On* Pauljo. All that salt had is stuck really tight. What a fantastic resource this here forum is. I'd have been waiting a couple of days to get it to the shop instead of riding. Thanks a whole bunch. I hope I'll be able to pass this on to somebody else some day.

The little silver button switch under your centerstand is stuck. Pull it down, squirt some oil on it, and you should be all set.
Another reason why I'm going to spray under my new Burg with Rustcheck right away, first day.

It's a lube as well as a rust protector.

Well first I'm going to put some loctite on my center stand bolts due to things I've read here.
Maybe the parking brake screws/bolts too.

I had one of the centre stand bolts come out but it fell on the floor under the bike. I wish they were all trained like that.<G>

I bought the 8 20 metric bolt and added a lockwasher. Hopefully this one will stay in,,,,,
