On all of my recent bikes and scooters I have need a suitable driver backrest that suitably supported my lower back and not just my butt top. On my 2008 Burgman 400 I finally made a raised backrest that fits fine. It's shown in the attached photos.

More detailed photos? Or that would require taking it apart?
Nice work. I just drilled or moved (don't remember) it as far as I could up, which was only about an inch, but that made a big difference. Yours must be great!

Yep, Mike, more photos would require disassembly. From the rear view you can see the adapter plate I made for the extension. At the lower part of the photo is the original metal sliding bracket. The majority of the rear view shows the adapter plate. It's cut from a discarded 3/8" thick cutting board my wife used. I bolted the backrest to the upper part of the board and the lower metal bracket to the lower portion. The only special thing I had to do was extend the backrest from the board due to a pad interference. A fairly simple project. Biggest problem was getting rid of the two screw holding the backrest slide in the forward/aft guide tubes.

pretty cool, you could try to put something to cover the back of it so it'd look more stock. but as it is now looks cool.
