OK so I've looked, and searched and not found an answer, which means this may be among the dumbest questions ever asked on the forums (and I'm proud to be the dummy to ask it ... :hello1: ... but be nice please, I am a newbie)

Does the fat end (or for the politically correct, the cylinder end) attach to the body/frame, or does it attach to the seat? You would have thought I'd have paid attention when I took it off but you would have been wrong. I didn't.

And since I'm here, I did find a post elsewhere where it was mentioned that the hood strut from an '82(?) Buick LeSabre was a perfect fit. Of course, now I can't find that post, but has anyone else seen this and/or used it?

Thanks y'all

On my '05-400, the cylinder end of the seat strut
attaches to the seat...the piston end goes down
to the hinge bolt on the frame.

When it comes time to replace that cylinder,
come back & ask here...we have links to a
good aftermarket supplier....
