Questions for thems what owns that late models

Hi folks,
I'm late to the party as usual but I am the owner of a 2018 AN650 with about 11k miles on it.
I'm ordering some parts including .
  • The plate to put a case on it.
Thinking just using the shad setup so I can swap my light scoots case back & forth (SH40 cargo). A bit less space than my old Bestem, but those are gone so working with that I have.
  • So far I've ordered a couple stopper bolts - 21748-10G20.
  • The oil filters seem to be the same so probably go with the HF138RC unless someone has a better idea. (Love the bolt on the end.)
  • I still have a CVT filter spare around, & those seem to be the same part.
  • Aftermarket paper air filters seem to be out there, so probably go with new ones of those.
Any suggestions on that, or are they all awful so time to order a new oil/cloth one?
  • Tires - Going OEM de$pite the pain. It has a nice new set of Pirelli Angels on it (Thinking of checking the other work that outfit did..)
  • Coolant - Is 5 years old so is on the list to swap. Might do a Prestone flush while I'm there, but tempting to hold out for the valve check (I hate doing those)

Anything I'm forgetting or should know.

If replacing the tires you might consider 90 degree air valve stems and some Ride On Tire Sealant.

Also check the brake pads.

Good points.
90 degree stems are handy and Ride-On did work for me somewhat once, but a more recent test by Fortnine was a bit unimpressed with it so may go a different direction there.

The biggest PITA for me with the big Burgman is the tyre inflation. I have 90 degree valves put on by PO but it’s still a PITA . I went Givi rack and Givi Maxia top box 56 litre.
Definitely change the coolant and find out if all other fluids have been changed recently too.
Congratulations on your new purchase now go off and have hours of fun 🤩
Tires for sure, seeing as you noted they are incorrect for the bike. Fluids next, even better if you have records. If not start your own fresh baseline? I don't care to offer recommendations as we all do things a bit differently. Some are "by the book" with every detail, some are "if it isn't broke don't fix it" Some put things put off, as they are rarely if ever required when checked. Some just ride it and put gas in it. I am an anal guy and document everything. I will put off two jobs on the Burgman because they are "checks" and a pita. I refuse to pay dealer fees for a "check" of anything. Records aid in giving you an idea what needs priority. Get those tires on it, ride it and fall in love. (pictures)

Hokay.
Pending on tires (Ouch), & other farkles, some today, some probably a week or two.
Pending on an oil filter arriving (The fine folks in Issaquah changed out the motor oil, not the trans or gear in their "Full" service...)
So in short this is not it's final form. Ma apologies for the messy garage. I'd clean it some more, but I'm a slob.

While you're at it, if you find a superior horn to the mouse fart OEM, please let me know. I have not been able to locate a proper spot for one off an 18 wheeler but sure would like something WAY louder than the OEM on my 650.

Try a Denali Sound Bomb or Sound Bomb Mini. The Mini will work with your existing wiring.

The Super Bomb Mini will fit, with some bracket work, where the stock horn is.
At just 113 dB, you DO NOT want to test it with your ears 1 foot in front of it.

And, Jon, If any electrical work is needed, you know where I am to help. Have relays and wiring skills on hand.

Thanks Dave. I appreciate the offer.
The big horn looks neat in some respects, but not really what I'm up to.
I kinda like the little Beep Beep to be honest. It reminds me of my old Bug (1971 Standard Orange...drove delivery in Mpls. Heat is a myth)
