Hello Forum,

A friend of mine wants to buy a 2006 Executive with 23,500 miles that is offered on Craigslist for $3,600. It has a new rear and a good front tire and comes also with a BrakeAway cruise control. The pictures look very good; the seller says the scooter is in great condition and has never been on its side.

So far so good. This looks like an interesting offer, right?

The one thing I don't know is when Suzuki changed something with the transmission to get rid of that strange noise - like defective valves - that many early Burgmans had (I had a 2003 Burgman 650 that sounded dangerous).

Does somebody here know when the transmission stopped having this noise, and is there anything else that needs to be looked at with such an Executive?

It would be great if I could get some helpful tips here.

There was a stopper bolt that needed replacement, an easy fix. Not sure what year. http://burgmanusa.com/forums/23-newbie-questions/58082-stopper-bolt.html

And the belt on the 03 and 04 were a bit failure prone. As with most models, these things got better with time.

The deal sounds interesting, given the limited info.

The 02,03 and 04 had an adapter that bolted on to the CVT's input shaft. It was Pi$$ Pour designed and was way too short for the fit. It chattered like a diesel truck. In 05 and up, they did away with the adapter on the CVT side and made the flywheels inner splines smaller to fit the CVT's input shaft naked but added a adapter on the left side with a longer bolt. This fixed a lot of the noise and wear issues. There is an adapter made in Poland that is exactly what Suzuki should have done from the start. The Polish Adapter is about $250. Nothing the Polish adapter didn't take care of on my '03.

Doesn't sound to bad,one of the pricey things to repair is the tranny,make sure there isn't any odd or horrible sounds coming from that area,engine area aswell. If your not to familiar with them,see if you can find someone that is to go with you to look over it. Good luck
