I'm sure he could provide you with some info about installation.
Actually I had my local motorcycle mechanic install all of the options you see in those pictures. Especially the passenger backrest/luggage rack because holes need to be made - those holes need to be done in the right place on the first try.

Finished installing a Utopia driver's backrest today. The instructions said it would take only minutes. WHATEVER. I guess I'm not much of a mechanic, because it probably took me three or four hours by the time I wrestled with the seat, drilled and redrilled holes and then held my breath to see if the whole thing would come together correctly. It finally did though and it does make for a much more relaxed and comfortable ride.

Ralph, when you revove the rear cowling, flip it over and you'll see three "+" these are the drill guide points that Suzuki was kind enough to provide us. Carefully drill out the holes to proper diameter and you'll be all set.

jkrerol15,

I guess they didn't lie, 3-4 hours is 180-240 minutes. Don't sweat it though, if you ever have to do it again it will take 1/2 the time. My 1st oil change took me almost 2 hrs. now it takes about 20 minutes, for the engine, trans., and final drive. The first time I took off the seat 1 hr. now 5 min.
I think the longest part is figuring out the "plastics" removal. Once that's understood, its down hill from there.

Ralph,
As stated earlier, there are location marks on the back side of the fender. I use a flat drill bit "speed bore" with small tines on the ends. Lay the fender upside down on a block of wood, once the tip of the drill bit is in the wood, it holds the position for a real clean cut, works slick.

Passenger Backrest

Depending on how handy you are I found the easiest way to drill the holes required is to drill a pilot from the marks on the underside. Then tape both sides and using a variable speed drill use the proper size wood boring bit on a very slow speed to drill the hole ---worked for me.

I did the exact same thing with no paint chipping at all! It works well.

My next undertaking will be to install a Givi top box. I'm sure I can turn that fairly simple procedure into an all-day cuss-a-thon. But if I can eventually get it to fall into place it will still be better than paying someone else to do it.
