Hi:

Does anyone know how to locate part numbers for specific plastic parts?

As a result of a blow (vandalism) to my windshield and left mirror (not sure of the specific mechanism) a few months back, my left mirror "buzzes" now, although it's not loose, plus the mirror housing has a small crack in it.

I would like to replace the entire mirror assembly, but am not sure exactly what needs to be replaced. I imagine the mirror, however it's held on, is not being held on by as many points as before (hence the vibration and buzzing). The glass shows no signs of falling off though.

ronayers.com has a blow-up of the right mirror, and mostly right-mirror parts, but that doesn't help me, plus it's really vague as to what's being described.

I looked through the service manual and the only reference I can see for the mirror is on 9-9, but with no part numbers listed.

Any ideas how to positively identify and order the parts I need?

Thanks.

:p

I had my left mirror replaced. When I get home from work I'll see if the paperwork has any part numbers, and if so I'll get back to you.

(BTW, it took 5 weeks for my dealer to get the mirror housing from Suzuki. I had a silver 650 with a blue left mirror for 5 weeks.)

Each side has 4 choices depending on color code. But only 2 colors are available at this time according to the site. If your sitting on the bike, the "1" will be the right side and "2" for the left. My color code is Y7H which is blue. It's either going to be 56500-10G00-( color code) or 56600-10G00-(color code)

The buzzing could be caused by a harmonic between the natural vibration of the bike and the crack in the housing.

Changing the housing should solve the problem. You can most likely salvage the fasteners from the broken housing, but disassembling it for a thorough inspection before ordering would verify their condition.

The part numbers for the housing (at least Ron Ayers' part numbers) are:

56600-10G00-YD8 for silver, or

56600-10G00-Y7H for blue, both for a left-side mirror housing.

Wow!

Thanks Brian.

That's so helpful.

I agree. It does seem and sound like a harmonic buzz, rather than a functional one due to detached parts.

The crack is a triangular-shaped, hairline fracture on the side of the mirror, and shows no sign of separating even after 1000 miles of riding this way.

I will disassemble it and see exactly what I'm dealing with.

I will print out your response.

Thanks again.

You're welcome.

Thanks are also due to ksmall1998. I wouldn't have gone to the ronayers.com site since you had already been there, had it not been for his helpful post.

On my screen I had to scroll to get the image of the left mirror, and I might not have bothered without his information.
