qaz, yes it's engine oil for your model. Brand doesn't really matter very much but I use Castrol Motorcycle engine oil 10/40 semi. I have the later version 400 which uses 10/40 semi or fully syn in the rear transmission box too. Don't use extreme pressure (EP) oils for transmissions as it's much too heavy and will result in damage to the transmission. The transmission gears and bearing are very hardy on these bikes so don't worry about using just the above oil in semi or full syn form. They do just fine with that. I personally don't use an additive for normal road use, but it's up to you. It won't do any harm I'm sure if you mix it in the right quantity with the oil and it may well reduce friction depending which one you use thus giving better mpg and reduced wear. But never yet come across a 400 with rear transmission trouble due to wear.
