I've heard that in order to evacuate the metal shavings that are left over from the manufacture of the engine the oil should be changed after only twenty miles. Granted, this is in reference to big bore motorcycles so does this rule apply to something like the burgman?
At 25 miles I didn't change the oil but I did change the oil filter. I also changed the transmission oil and drive shaft oil. Will do everything again at 600 mile mark including the engine oil as recommended.
That's why the first mintainence is at 600 miles, instead of at 3000 miles. 20 or even 150 miles might not be enough for all of the shavings, casting flash, etc... to come out of the engine. I'd stick to the 600 mile schedule.
I changed oil and filter @ 150miles then the 600 mile schedual per manual
