That is interesting. Also interesting to me is the JC Penney 10 speed bicycle I bought back in about '72. It had a disk brake on the front. Never worked well as I couldn't press it hard enough using the non-assisted brake handle.

I thought those were wooden rims. I suspect that setup comes from the midwest in the 30s. Lots of folks experimenting with old farm equipment back then.

there are a few companies building bamboo frames and rims for bikes, If you own that bike and want to make some cash, I'm sure there are some hipster out there ready to spend serious cash on that ride.
