Greetings! I Go by WELDER DON Got my 2012 Suzuki Burgman Executive 650 bout 2 months ago have ridden probably 1500 miles thus far. About 1 & 1/2 months before I got (and the final reason) it I was riding my Kawasaki 1700 Nomad visiting a friend and had started home & the blankety-blank phone rang. To be safe I slowed & pulled off in a ditch to answer it and when I touched the brake the bike sank slightly 'then by it's own choosing , threw itself on it's left side & ! went to the right! Don't worry! I knew you would! The bike was totally fine , un-hurt,fine, not a scratch ! BUT, me on the other hand, I broke eight (8) ribs ! Six in the back & 2 up front ! I lay there a while & a fellow biker helped me get that 1000lbs og bike up & decided to ride the 5 hours home! WRONG!!! After about 30 minutes I found an eatin place & pulled in a ate and evaluated my self. Called my wife, called the dealer in Waco TX & he gave me the number og a bike hauler guy. Had a pickup with a hyd. bed that came back & out to flat on the ground. He rode it on & strapped it down& brought it back inside the bed. He then took me to the hospital, stayed there till I was examined & admitted , Kept the Nomad in his building overnight till my son drove down from Ft Worth TX & picked it up. All the guy charged me for everything was $85.00. Gave the Nomad to the son who picked it up & bought the Burgman later. It's 300 + lbs lighter. I'll be 64 weekend after next :violent1:I guess I,ll just have to bite my tongue when my sons laugh at me. So far the only real complaints are the "who knows"speedometer and the severve wind thrashing my co-riders get! I rode on abck with my 16 year old grandson driving & everyone is right:rolleyes: It is terrible riring back there. My plan is air wings & I've already bought the materials. My next plan is a speedo-healer. All I added so far is puppy grips & y=those little mirrors that show vehicles that are too close for the big mirrors . I will likely add another 259 watt Shark radio/amp & sub woffer like I had on one of my previous rides. Nuffnow. The Don

Welcome Don, sorry about your mishap, but glad you are able to ride. I share the age number, although I was 64 in March. But things take longer to heal when we mess up, it's part of that "Growing Old Gracefully Crap"!!
Ain't nothing graceful about it!!!!
Take care and ride safe. Oh, try ignoring the phone until you get to a nice flat parking lot or some place similar.

Welcome Don. I also got rid of my motorcycle. Back and knee problems,, shoulder surgery, etc. I'll be 70 in Novermber. Our lower CG of our scooters makes it much easier on the old body IMHO. Also as you know, much better wind protection. I don't worry about the back seat since my wife no longer rides with me.
I'm sure you will be glad you made the switch.
