My Name is Alex...I traded in my Volusia For an 04' 650 Burg...Hopefully a right move,The Vol Viberated to much after 65 mph, this bike is smooth as cream at 80 so I love so far but what about the maintenance issues, such as Bearings & Belt...Does an 04' have a Belt ????, I will be watching the bearings and yes the Seals are made of rubber, but when I bought the bike it did shoot out grease at first but I think that is normal on any bearing seals....My Boat Trailer did the same thing. Anyway love the Trunk space Love the Speed, My Brother is envious as hell, But how long will this bike hold up ???? My Vol was a good Bike, but I didn't like the Vibe 8)

Alex,

Welcome to BurgmanUSA.

All cvt transmissions have a belt. The one in the 650 is a very heavy duty design. Suzuki UK stated that it should last at least 60,000 miles. Other Suzuki sources say that it should last for the life of the scooter. I have put 11,800 miles on my 650 so far. I've had no reliability issues. Basically just routine maintenance and a new set of tires.

Hi Alex
Welcome to the forum :hello2:
I would be more concerned with the bearings than the belt which although there has been reported premature failure(s) the belt is of a very substantial design. The bearings are a very different case, it would appear and may be under specified in terms of their sealing arrangements. This is easily cured.
The definitive bearing article
Enjoy!

Greetings Alex and welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you like the Burgman 650 over the Volusia. I was debating about the Volusia just before I bought the 650. I got a deal on the 650 so that made up my mind......Am I ever thankful now. I just love the Burgman.
