Finding the Year built

How can I find out what year my bike is for sure?

Finding the proper Model Number

I forgot to ask about how and where to find the Model number.

All that information should be on the VIN plate
mounted just below the glovebox, above the
door to the gas cap.
If that plate is missing....there's a problem... :?

Thanks guys. I can't look because we just got 8 more inches of snow so I have not picked it up yet. The reason I was asking was because the owners manual inserts was marked 2006 but the title did read 2009.

Hopefully the dealer just gave you an old manual,
rather than selling you an '06 & then listing the
title as an '09.....that creates an altogether
different problem.

You might want to clarify this before picking it up. If he charged you for a 2009, but it is a 2006, the bikes are totally different. The only thing the same is the name, general shape and how fun they are to ride. It might get some $$$ refunded back to you for falsely representing the merchandise.

The easiest way to tell if you have a 2006 or 2009, is to look at the front wheel. If it has two disks for the front brakes, you have a 2009. If it has only one, you have a 2006 or earlier model.
