Supposedly also better fuel economy and new floating brake discs. I never rode an pre-2013 to compare but my engine braking is more than I even want.
My dad always drilled into me that brakes were cheaper and easier to maintain than engine parts or clutches so I never used a lot of engine braking on motorcycles in the past anyway, even in the twistiest of mountain downhills.
