Performance, no. Same engine.

But new Clutch. Good, easier to ride and move about. Bad, less engine braking from what I've read. Overall, better bike.

If you liked the 09, I'm sure you'll love the 14. But I've no seat time on the new bike, so take it for what it's worth (2 cents).

Supposedly also better fuel economy and new floating brake discs. I never rode an pre-2013 to compare but my engine braking is more than I even want.

My dad always drilled into me that brakes were cheaper and easier to maintain than engine parts or clutches so I never used a lot of engine braking on motorcycles in the past anyway, even in the twistiest of mountain downhills.
