****, the brakes use fluid!!!! Follow Ledudes recommendations and tutorial and you can't go wrong.

Well on my 650 I can SEE the state of the brake fluid....as it starts to turn brown it's time to CHANGE it. Doesn't matter if it's two months or two years or 4 years. If the fluid is turning brown or is already brown, change it..calender doesn't matter on that one. With a vacuum pump, change it every year if you want.

(Just curious as to why you ask this question?)

The problem is that there is no real effective circulation of fluid in the system and by the time it changes colour in the master cylinder slight glass then it is probably really shitty at the business end. As the rubber hoses get older then it is likely that the fluid will discolour more quickly too.
