Just put a new battery in my o8 650. Piece of cake. I bought a Motobatt battery, all sealed, pre charged and no problems with the install. Started right up!

Bearcat -
I am looking for a Motobatt - my OEM battery is gone on the 09' 650. I callled Sunn Battery today and spoke with Carl and they are out of stock (MBTX12U) until the 1st of May.

Would you mind sharing where you bought your battery from?

I've found them on Amazon or eBay.

Thanks the replies and info.
It was a toss-up between Amazon and Motobattbatteries.com. In the end - I ordered from Motobattbatteries.com.

Overall, including Motobatteries.com - I tried to talk to 3 venders today about verifying battery was in-stock before purchase.
Everybody seems swamped with business now that Spring is here.

In truth, my OEM battery is fine. I used the Burgman battery to replace a bad battery in my Ariens lawn tractor. They are exactly same size and amperage.
Works out perfectly - I had rather have a more reliable battery in the Burgman anyway.

Update
I ordered the battery this past Wednesday at 10am. CDT using website. Today (Friday), USPS delivered my new Motobatt battery. I am impressed with speed in which battery was delivered - especially by USPS!

Interesting, I am just replacing my original OEM battery that came with my 2004.
By my count that is 9 years on the original battery.
Kind of scares me that I have to replace it!
So I just bought a Deka ETX14 from my local battery bandit. They tell me it is a much better battery than the original, only problem is that it is going take me years to find out ... I hope!
Could be the Battery Minder that I use every winter actually works in extending the life of the battery.

The battery in my '06 650 is 7 years old and starts the bike fine. I was thinking of replacing it based on age. However, if it will go 9 years I don't have to worry anytime soon, or do I? Are there any warning signs? I thought of carrying a fully charged new battery as a spare just to see how long mine will last, but don't really want to do that for a couple of years.

I changed mine out last year, and replaced the OEM (9 yrs, no tender used) with a glass matt battery from Fleet Farm, $50. If it lasts even 5 years I will be happy, as the bike will be 15yrs.old.

Then ??????

As for the warning signs, it just didn't hold a full change any longer, and the motor turned over slow. If you start it once a week, you should be ok for a few years. The tell is letting it sit 2-4 weeks, if it barely turns over, it's time.
