I read a couple discontents with OEM mirrors on the site and kinda agree to the point that the aerodynamic shape and position are better on the six-fiddy. However in the following video there's some interesting mod that in theory should move standard 400's mirrors more to the aerodynamic shadow at that reducing the overall machine width. I hope everyone knows what i'm talking about

Yeh...the mirror heads are rotated IN 180 degrees,
providing a narrower profile.
I've been riding with my mirrors this way ever since
I got my scooter in June of '05. Rode about a year
with my mirrors this way before I ever saw another
scooter with mirrors rotated OUT....they seemed
to stick out a awful lot. Even with the mirrors at
the IN position, this ol' fat boy can see just fine.

Well, good to know its already in use. But I didn't see it here before, so I'd rather not to bring any lest i should reinvent the wheel over and over again :D .

2013 I sat on yesterday had the mirrors turned in by whomever set it up. I sat on it and they work fine for me set in that way. If I buy it I'll leave then that way. Easier in and out of garage............Mike

If I'm in a lot of traffic and splitting lanes it's nice to have the mirrors turned in to keep the scoot slim (legal in California; boy, does it help when I'm riding for work, to get through the jams).

But for normal riding I find that the usual "mirrors out" position lets me see a lot more directly behind me, and that feels safer.

Here's the same setup again from the different perspectives but on the same bikes :D Look more like automotive mirrors
