In addition to the "last post" field when looking at the message subjects in a particular forum, it would be nice to have a "date of origin" field.

In other words, when a topic has a reply, it only shows the date of the reply. It would be more informative to also show how long ago the message thread actually got started.

The 1st message in all the topics show on my computer. You do have to open each topic though.

Yes but I was hoping to avoid having to open the message. In other words, if it showed next to the "last post" date then you could easily see this info for all the message topics that you're looking at.
