Mail-In Scooter Survey

I just got a 6 page survey in the mail from Clarity Research asking all kinds of questions about scooters. The form letter indicated that my Burgman 400 was a qualifying scooter purchase. The survey asks questions ranging from purchase decisions to performance needs; it also asks to compare Honda, Suzuki, Vespa, and Yamaha.

Anyone else get one of these in the mail?

I got one yesterday in the mail. Haven't filled it out yet. Today in the mail I received a post card from the same company asking why I haven't filled it out yet and a phone number to call to get another one if I lost the old one. :geek:
I just re-read the original survey and they must be targeting 400 recent buyers as I have bought both a 650 and 400 and it only says the 400 is the reason for the survey.
I got one yesterday and I have an AN 650 so they are targeting recent Burgman purchases. Maybe Suzuki is considering "listening" to it's Scooter Riders.
Never mind.

Naw.. That couldn't be it.

It would certainly be interesting to know who hired Clarity Research to do the survey - and why. It wasn't necessarily Suzuki...

I wish they would include some of us that have already put some serious mileage on the scooters though.
I'm not sure how they're targeting people to survey...I bought my 400 last December. My guess is that a lot more people on this forum will get the questionaire within the next couple of days...
I received a survey about a year ago

I got a survey right after buying my 650. Don't know if it is the same one. I filled it out but was dissapointed that the questions they asked were of little or no importance to me. I would have liked to been able to tell them what is of interest to me on a bike. I wish Suzuki would send out a questionare asking for what we would like to see.
Just completed mine. Don't youse guys bother. (Better odds at the $2K for me. :D )

I was beginning to feel left out but I got one in the mail today. One of the questions was what made you buy ?
I checked off a few and "other" and put "Burgmanusa.com" can't hurt.

Randy,

Good move! Thanks!

Still haven't received the survey myself. Oh well...
I got the survey yesterday in the mail. It was sent to me as a Vespa owner. I have not received one for the Burgman 650. I think I will win the $2000.

Paul (and anyone else interested),

If you want to receive future surveys, go to the Clarity Research homepage and signup to join their 'PowerSports Connect Consumer Panel'. Just remember when signing up, that vehicles may have their own category. Scooters are seperate from on-road bikes. Here is a list of the categories :
  • on-road motorcycle[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
  • scooter[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
  • off-road motorcycle[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
  • personal watercraft[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
  • snowmobile[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
  • all-terrain vehicle[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
  • utility vehicle[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
  • mountain bike[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
  • go-kart[/*:m:2nh3ellr]
Thanks. I signed up.
In December I am going to a 2 hour research survey for the 650. It is 2 hours and pays $150.00! They are also mailing me a disposable camera, and they want pictures of my Burgie with the accessories, out on rides, with a rider, etc. When I turn it in at the survey, they are including another $20.00.

Are these surveys sponsored by Suzuki? Is anyone else going to a focus group like this?

Daryl
From their web page I knew they did things like that. Not been invited myself ... but would go (a reasonable distance) if asked. I could use the $170 for some new Burgman toys!

Yes!! Someone called me a few days ago and asked if I wanted to go to one of these focus groups and get paid $150. And, because its 40 miles from my house they're offering an extra $20 for gas. Plus the $20 for turning in the disposable camera they sent me (which arrived in today's mail) to take pictures of the Burgie with me on it (and other 'family pictures'). This focus group is happening on December 7th. They haven't revealed who their client is, but I think it could be Suzuki (or one of the other major players in the megascooter industry) that can afford this kind of study and it would pay off if they learned more about who their target group would be so they could develop effective ads.
I emailed Mike at Clarity Research to let him know he could thank (or blame) me if he saw a new influx of Burgman riders on his PowerSports Panel and to invite him to drop by the forums. Got a nice thank you email from him for the 'plug' and for the forum members filling out the surveys. He stated he'll keep our (very active) forum in mind for any future scooter surveys. One other item of note; the focus groups some of our forum members have been invited to is not beig conducted by Clarity Research. It's a different research company.
