This is my first post. I am looking at buying a 2003 400 burgman from an older guy. It has very low mileage. He is asking $4500 for it. Says he has done yearly maintenance on it. I am wondering if it is a good buy or good-bye. It will be my first scooter, I currently ride an ACE 750. Any pointers would help. I have not seen the scooter yet. It is a 5 hour ride from my home. Any suggestions would be helpful: pro or against. Thanks.

I would also think that is way high for an 03 400. NADA list average retail at $2,085. KBB says $2450 in excellent condition with less than 15,000 miles.

Way too high. I bought my 2006 650 few months ago with 13,750 miles for $3250. However, that was a very good deal IMHO. It did part of the left lower tupperware missing but it was not very noticeable.
Many on here claim improvements were made in 2007 and newer.

It may be worth $4500 to the seller, but it's sure
not worth that much to the rest of the world...
it's a 10 year old vehicle.

What that Burgman is worth to the seller is way, way above what it is actually worth. I wouldn't pay over $2000 to $2500 for it and that price might go way down if it is not pristine. With the bike being 5 hours away from you, I would take a pass on it unless you have another reason to go to where it is.

I agree with Doug. Craigslist usually has some 07s and 08s in the price range. IMHO $4500 is WAY TOO MUCH for a 10 year old 400.
