Hello men
I just bought a 2018. I sold my 2006. I was wondering if anyone has noticed how much louder the 18 is compared to earlier years? I read where they intentionally made it louder. I personally do not like it. I have insulated between the seat and cover over air filter. That helped some. May look at other options. Just wondering if I am the only one?

Do you know for sure the exhaust and intake hasn't been modified? I've had a few Suzukis and none have been loud (I know, a subjective term) from the factory. This includes the GSXS1000, but it does get a "throaty" sound when you punch it.

my 15 def has an airbox growl that is noticeable when engine is "under a load" not as nice as the silence while coasting , just tire niose and the wind, but I had an electric which was supposed to be quiet and the motor whine was louder/ more irritationg than my coasting burgy and it NEVER got that quiet except at a dead stop.

I would check for modification like G-Dub said.
Check that it has an air filter and all fastenings are tight (especially the exhaust and intake to engine bolts).

Check for missing parts (people sometimes throw away awkward to fit bits of plumbing that they think are unnecessar)

My 2018 is reasonably quiet, yes, on hard acceleration it sounds a little throaty from both the exhaust or air box, but nothing exceptional, 400's can get a little noisy from the CV transmission - try giving it a good hard couple of miles of acceleration and high speed, this tends to de-glaze the belt and components returning it to a quieter operation.

When I installed a K & N filter the decibels went up quite a bit. Maybe yours has a K &N filter installed?
